( — Former advisor to United Kingdom Prime Minister David Cameron and former FOX News host Steve Hilton announced his campaign for governor of California Monday. Video Above: Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco on why he's running for California Governor Hilton, a conservative, has been a regular critic of the one-party hold Democrats have over the Golden State on his California-focused podcast and last year he released a book titled 'Califailure: Reversing the Ruin of America's Worst-Run State'. He also previously hosted a weekly show called 'The Next Revolution' on FOX News. 'I love California so much. I moved to the Bay Area over a decade ago,' reads Hilton's campaign website. 'I've raised my family here, taught at Stanford, started a business, written books, hosted a TV show … lived the California dream. It's my home, in the deepest sense. I'm a proud American, and an incredibly proud Californian too.' According to his campaign website, Hilton grew up in Britain and became a U.S. citizen in 2021. Hilton joins an already crowded field of candidates, including former Rep. Katie Porter, Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis and Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. He used to advise David Cameron. Now he wants to run California

A Fox News commentator and former aide to David Cameron has announced he is standing to be governor of California. Steve Hilton, 55, a dual British-American citizen, moved to the US in 2012 after serving as Cameron's director of strategy in Downing Street. Steve Hilton: Everything Touched By The Government In California Is A Total Disaster

Fox News contributor Steve Hilton joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla to discuss his new book, Califailure: Reversing the Ruin of America's Worst-Run State . 'It is the most amazing place. I live there. I love California, it's incredible. We got so much potential. But even with all this crap, we are still today, the fifth biggest economy in the world. If California was a country, it'd be the world's fifth biggest economy. Now imagine where we could be without all this. We'd be, like, totally dominant. We'd overtake India, Germany, be amazing. And that's good for the whole country. And that's really the point I want to make, is it's not just good for California if we have it succeed and stop this ridiculous nonsense. It's good for the whole country.' PLUS, check out the podcast to hear Wednesday's full show!
