Newport events: Music, VE Day celebrations and more
Whether you're looking for a night of music and dance, a family-friendly show, or a celebration of history, Newport has something to offer this weekend.
Spring Carnival Party at Legacy Lounge
The Spring Carnival Party will take place at Legacy Lounge, Newport, on Saturday, May 10.
The venue will be transformed into a Caribbean escape, with free rum punch on arrival and after-club refreshments served from 2.45am.
The event will start at 10pm and finish at 4am, with last entry at 1am.
DJs Empire Flipz and Pandora will be playing dancehall, reggae, afrobeats, soca, and RnB all night.
There will also be free giveaways on the night.
Comedy night at Newport Market
Elsewhere, comedian Leroy Brito will perform at Newport Market.
The comedian, who has toured alongside industry heavyweights such as Mo Gilligan, Rhod Gilbert, and Guz Khan, will be supported by Carwyn Blayney, winner of the 2024 Wales unsigned standup award.
The event will be hosted by comedian Huw Davies.
It will start at 8pm and run until 11pm, and is suitable for people aged 18 and over.
The Worst Princess at the Riverfront
For families, the Worst Princess will be performed at The Riverfront on Saturday, May 10, and Sunday, May 11, at 11.30am and 2pm.
Tickets are £14 for adults, £12 for children, £49 for a group of four, and £11 each for a group of 10 or more.
The show is made for ages three and above and promises laugh-out-loud comedy, cool puppets, sing-along pop anthems, and a dazzling larger-than-life dragon.
Friendly Fox VE Day Celebrations
Continuing with the VE Day celebrations, the Friendly Fox in Bassaleg will be hosting a special celebration on Saturday, May 10, at 2pm.
The event will feature a real World War Two Jeep, free face painting, and food, drinks, and music.
There will also be a fancy dress competition with prizes for both kids and adults.
The events promise to bring fun and entertainment to the Newport area, catering to a variety of interests and age groups.
