Hulk Hogan Talked About His Infamous WrestleMania IX Black Eye Again, But Other Wrestlers Are Very Skeptical
If you buy something through a link in this article, we may earn commission. Pricing and availability subject to change. When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Credit: WWE Throughout his career, Hulk Hogan was at the center of some of the biggest wrestling moments of all time. From headlining the first WrestleMania to shocking the world by turning heel with the NWO, and everything before, after and since, the 'Hulkster' has always been part of earth-shattering and controversial moments. This includes the WWE Hall of Famer showing up to WrestleMania IX with a nasty black eye and a story that many of his peers, and generations of wrestling fans, just don't buy. Advertisement The new deep-dive into the the 1993 'Showcase of the Immortals,' WrestleMania IX: Becoming a Spectacle, by far one of the best wrestling documentaries on Peacock , reexamines one of the biggest behind-the-scenes mysteries of the event, and wrestling in general. And while Hogan has a highly detailed story about how he got his infamous shiner, other wrestlers are very skeptical, to say the least. Peacock TV: from $7.99 a month/$79.99 a year Want to watch WrestleMania IX: Becoming a Spectacle (or the 1993 event it covers)? Well, sign up for Peacock TV and you can catch hundreds of hours of WWE, WCW, and ECW shows plus more. Costing as little as $7.99 a month, you can also pay more for Peacock Premium and enjoy ad-free streams and the option to download titles to watch offline Deal Credit: Peacock What Hulk Hogan Says About The Infamous Black Eye In WrestleMania IX: Becoming A Spectacle Though WrestleMania IX: Becoming A Spectacle spends a large portion of its nearly two-hour runtime breaking down how the 1993 event was a game-changer for the company and helped usher in a new era, it doesn't shy away from covering two of the biggest controversies from the pay-per-view: Hulk Hogan showing up with a black eye and the former top babyface being randomly inserted into the main event for the WWE Championship. Let's just focus on the former for now. Advertisement In the documentary, Hogan denies the long-believed story that the black eye and stitches were the result of a nasty hook from former friend-turned-rival 'Macho Man' Randy Savage. Instead, Hogan tells a story about being in a jet ski accident two days before the Las Vegas event that involved him being hit in the face by the watercraft's handlebar. If I'm being honest, his recollection of the accident has way too many details and comes off as rehearsed. And I'm not alone… Credit: Peacock Bret Hart Rips Hogan As 'Such A Liar,' And Other Wrestlers Seem To Agree Ahead of the documentary's release, Bret Hart, who never minces words when it comes to his relationship with Hulk Hogan, sat down for an interview with TMZ where he wasted no time in calling out his former colleague and ripping him for lying, saying: Hulk Hogan's always been such a liar. Whatever he tells you is probably not true. Macho Man, I'd go by his account of things. Macho Man was a much more reliable guy that spoke the truth. Advertisement And Hart, who will become the first three-time inductee at the 2025 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony ahead of the two-night WrestleMania 41 , isn't alone in not believing Hogan's story about the black eye being caused by a jet ski accident. In WrestleMania IX: Becoming a Spectacle, other wrestlers come off as being skeptical about the situation. At one point, the Undertaker says that it was well-known that Hogan and Savage didn't get along, and that the Hulkster should have 'bobbed instead of weaved on that,' alluding to a fight. Moments later, Scott Steiner explains that while he didn't see a fight between the two, he has long believed Savage's story about the rumored altercation. We may never really know what happened back in 1993, as 'Macho Man' Randy Savage passed away more than a decade ago, and Hulk Hogan is sticking to his story.

WrestleMania 41 Night 2 will see John Cena trying to make history against Cody Rhodes
The second night of WrestleMania 41 will certainly be one to remember with Cody Rhodes and John Cena headlining the main event that pro wrestling fans will be talking about the entire week, but it is far from the only match on the card on the second night of the biggest spectacle in sports. The second night will feature at least six matches with five champions defending their titles in either singles or tag-team competitions. There are two multi-person matches and a street fight set for the bright lights in the city of sin. Night 2 of WrestleMania 41 will take place at Allegiant Stadium at 7 p.m. ET in Las Vegas. It is the second WrestleMania to take place in the Las Vegas area and the first since WrestleMania IX in 1993. U.S. fans will be able to watch on Peacock and international fans on Netflix. Read below for a preview of the second night. -- Iyo Sky lost the WWE Women's World Championship at last year's WrestleMania to Bayley, and it took her nearly a year to get back into the title picture. After Rhea Ripley cost Sky a chance at being in the women's Elimination Chamber, she offered Sky a title shot weeks before WrestleMania. Ripley was distracted by the women's chamber winner Bianca Belair sitting at ringside and lost her focus. Sky capitalized and stunned Ripley to win the championship. The WWE Universe thought it would be Sky and Belair at WrestleMania, but Ripely found a way into the match and instead it being one-on-one, it became a triple threat. Ripley was disqualified in her rematch against Sky but made herself a force to be reckoned with over the last few weeks to insert herself back into the title picture. Ripley will look to win her third consecutive WrestleMania match and fourth straight match involving a singles title. Belair has had success in title matches at WrestleMania – winning or retaining the women's title three times. The match between Logan Paul and A.J. Styles has been a recent addition to the WrestleMania card. Styles headlined the first premium live event after WrestleMania 40 with a title match against Rhodes at Backlash. However, he has only had a few televised matches since then, apart from an appearance in NOAH over the summer. Styles reappeared at the Royal Rumble but was ousted, and he defeated "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio on Raw back in February. Paul has been a thorn in Styles' side since the Royal Rumble. Paul missed his own chance to get a marquee matchup at WrestleMania, losing out in the Royal Rumble and in the Elimination Chamber. "The Maverick" has been known to create viral WrestleMania moments and is poised to do it one more time. Liv Morgan's 2024-25 has been eventful to say the least. She was able to hold the Women's World Championship for months before she lost it to Rhea Ripley at the beginning of January. She and Raquel Rodriguez then entered the tag-team scene and won the titles from Belair and Naomi in February. Since then, Morgan and Rodriguez have been on top of the world. Morgan even scored a key win over Jade Cargill at the end of March on "Fright Night SmackDown." At WrestleMania, the champs will have new challenges in Bayley and Lyra Valkyria. The newly formed tag team won a gauntlet match to become the No. 1 contenders for the title. It came after Bayley fell short of Valkyria for the Women's Intercontinental Championship. Bron Breakker has been on an absolute tear since he was called up to the main roster this year. He won the Intercontinental Championship from Jey Uso in October and has not lost it since. However, WrestleMania 41 poses a formidable challenge since he does not have to be pinned to lose it. Penta, Mysterio and Finn Balor will all participate the fatal four-way match. Penta joined WWE in January and has become one of the most electrifying performers in recent memory. His lucha libre-style of wrestling has delighted the WWE Universe and has helped him become a contender for the title. Mysterio and Balor are the two leaders of a crumbling Judgment Day faction. Mysterio has drawn a ton of heat since he joined Judgment Day, but his on-screen partner Liv Morgan has helped Mysterio go through some changes since he dumped Ripley at SummerSlam. Balor was once a WWE world champion and could revive his standing on the roster with Breakker's title. Balor has tons of experience when it comes to championship matches but has not won a match at WrestleMania since WrestleMania 35 in 2019. The match between Damian Priest and Drew McIntyre appeared to be about a year in the making. McIntyre won the World Heavyweight Championship in an epic match with Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40 last year. McIntyre celebrated in front of an injured CM Punk, who was on commentary as he was injured. However, his celebration did not last long. Punk proceeded to beatdown and embarrass McIntyre, leading to Priest cashing in his Money in the Bank contract and winning the title from McIntyre. Since then, McIntyre has been on a revenge tour. He had three hellacious matches against Punk in the summer. Priest moved from the Raw brand to SmackDown, and since then, the gloves have been off between the two competitors. Priest slammed McIntyre threw a car windshield, which appeared to legitimately injure McIntyre's eye. The feud was at a fever pitch, and Nick Aldis announced the two would finish it off in Las Vegas at WrestleMania 41. On the penultimate SmackDown before WrestleMania, their match was announced as a Sin City Street Fight. McIntyre ripped off his eyepatch and vowed to leave Priest helpless. He nearly did that by giving him a Future Shock DDT on the steel steps. Rhodes and Cena have turned a mutual admiration for each other into a bitter feud that started at the Elimination Chamber premium live event when Cena sided with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and beat Rhodes down with some help from rapper Travis Scott of all people. Since then, the two have traded plenty of barbs with each other over the last few weeks. It ended in London when Cena tried to go for a cheap shot on Rhodes. "The America Nightmare" turned it around on Cena and hit him with the Cross Rhodes. Rhodes told Fox News Digital that this matchup against Cena feels like it was the "first-time ever" for him. "So, now, looking at the matchup, that's why I say it feels like a first-time-ever for me, because early in my career, I hadn't found my footing. I didn't know who I was," he said. "And now, especially judging from these past several interactions in the ring, I feel like we do know who each other are now. "I couldn't have put it in my wildest dreams that this would be a WrestleMania headline match and main event, especially under the circumstances it's come under. But that's the beautiful thing about pro wrestling; it's too tough to call." Follow Fox News Digital's sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Bret Hart calls Hulk Hogan a liar while revisiting WrestleMania IX moment in new Peacock documentary
WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart didn't hold back in a new interview with TMZ Sports, once again taking aim at longtime rival Hulk Hogan. Decades after their on-screen and backstage conflicts, Hart said he still doesn't believe Hogan is a trustworthy source when it comes to wrestling history. Hart's comments came ahead of the April 11 premiere of Peacock's Becoming a Spectacle, which features exclusive clips and firsthand accounts from WWE legends. In the documentary, Hart joins stars like The Undertaker to revisit key moments in wrestling, including the lead-up to WrestleMania IX in 1993. One standout topic is Hogan arriving at the event with a noticeable black eye — a detail that sparked rumors of a possible altercation with the late Randy 'Macho Man' Savage. Though Hart admits he doesn't remember exactly how Hogan got the injury, he's confident Hogan's version of events can't be trusted. 'Hulk Hogan's always been such a liar,' Hart told TMZ Sports. 'Whatever he tells you is probably not true. Macho Man, I'd go by his account of things. Macho Man was a much more reliable guy that spoke the truth.' Hart noted that showing up with black eyes wasn't unusual during that era, and some wrestlers were known to stretch the truth when explaining how they got them. The Hart-Hogan feud remains one of wrestling's longest-running rivalries, and Becoming a Spectacle promises to offer a closer look through candid interviews and behind-the-scenes footage.

Everything To See And Do In Las Vegas For WrestleMania 41 Week
WrestleMania 41 emanates from Las Vegas, Nev. this April for only the second time in WWE history. The last WrestleMania Vegas—WrestleMania IX at Caesars Palace—gave WWE one of its greatest WrestleMania set designs to atone for arguably its worst WrestleMania. WWE is operating at or near Peak Cinema in 2025, breaking one live gate record after another with sky-high ticket prices headed into WrestleMania Easter. WWE's plethora of sponsorship deals include a recently announced partnership with Clash of the Clans which will feature a branded match at WrestleMania 41. That alone might be better than WrestleMania IX. WrestleMania week is a pro wrestling super hub. WrestleMania generated over $1.25 billion for its host city of Philadelphia last year, and countless promotions benefited from the biggest week in wrestling with piggybacking events. In 2025, however, WWE will be defying the laws of physics by piggybacking on itself. With more WWE-branded events than ever before, many indie wrestling promotions will now share a space with WWE ID shows. Wrestling-themed nightlife staples such as Remix Rumble and WaleMania's 10th anniversary will now coexist with four consecutive nights of WWE's WrestleMania After Dark in the Fontainebleau Hotel. WrestleMania is such a large-scale event, WWE had to stage a takeover of its own creation. And the takeover has already started with help from the New Day. As part of the ongoing rollout of WWE 2K25, five WWE Superstars—Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston, R-Truth, Dakota Kai and Tyler Breeze—played 2K25 on a 100,000 square foot screen at Resorts World in Las Vegas. Resorts World, home to a WrestleMania-week slots tournament hosted by former WWE announcer Kayla Becker (F.K.A. Kayla Braxton), will be a popular location among wrestling fans and talent. The venue is in close proximity to several means of transit throughout the city, such as the Las Vegas Loop, the Las Vegas Monorail and the M Ride. Fans will be able to use these methods of transportation to arrive at Allegiant Stadium, home of WrestleMania 41, the T-Mobile Arena (SmackDown, NXT Stand and Deliver and WWE Raw After Mania) and the Las Vegas Convention Center (WWE World.) WWE World takes place from April 17 to April 21, where there will be meet-and-greets with top stars such as Cody Rhodes, Bianca Belair, Charlotte Flair, Damian Priest, Drew McIntyre, Mike Tyson, Jey Uso and The Undertaker. Undertaker will have a busy week after reprising his 1 Deadman Show in the BleauLive Theater at the Fontainebleau Hotel. This is the same location as the 2025 WWE Hall of Fame with headlining inductee Triple H. WWE World will also feature the largest superstore in WrestleMania history with exclusive merchandise, memorabilia, autograph signings and immersive exhibits. WWE, in partnership with Medium Rare, announced its first-ever WrestleMania After Dark experience at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Las Vegas. WrestleMania After Dark takes place every night from Thursday, April 17 to Sunday, April 20 at LIV nightclub with live performances from DJ Valentino Khan, Metro Boomin, Machine Gun Kelly, Flo Rida and Rob Gronkowski. WrestleMania After Dark will include appearances from a bevy of WWE stars such as The Usos, Liv Morgan, Bron Breakker and Rey Mysterio. Saturday the 19th will be especially packed with WWE NXT Stand and Deliver inside the T-Mobile Arena, WrestleMania Saturday and a potential Yeet Celebration at WrestleMania After Dark featuring Jimmy and Jey Uso. Wrestling enthusiasts won't have to wait until night time to mingle with fellow fans and stars, as former WWE Superstar Mojo Rawley (Dean Muhtadi) will host Slam Fest day parties at Palms Casino Resort on April 19 and 20. The Palms Pool event is advertising Mandy Sacs (F.K.A. Mandy Rose), Shelton Benjamin, MVP and Ric Flair, who will be hosting a 'Woo!' contest on the 19th. Flair recently noted he will be in attendance for John Cena's potentially record-breaking 17th world title win in Sunday's main event against Cody Rhodes. The Palms will also be a venue for one of WWE's many co-branded shows during WrestleMania week as part of its emerging WWE ID program. WWE ID will present tournament matches in partnership with GCW: The Collective at the Palms on April 16. WWE ID Tournament matches, which will eventually crown the inaugural WWE ID men's and women's champion, will also take place in FSW Vegas from the FSW Arena. WWE ID promotion KnokXPro—headed up by WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi—will feature a weekend of events from April 16 through April 18 in the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center. WWE ID's potentially game-changing involvement in the indie wrestling scene has been the cause of spirited debate in the wrestling community. Some feel WWE ID is good for the wrestling business as it will showcase smaller promotions, while giving wrestlers a path to the mainstream superstardom that they seek. Others fear WWE ID could experience the same pitfalls of NXT UK, while sucking the soul out of independent wrestling domestically. Regardless of the fate of WWE ID, WWE has every right to capitalize on the event it created. As a two-night showcase amid a week of hype, WrestleMania has turned into a festival, and the residual interest in outside shows is a business unto itself. Most importantly, any show with a connection to WWE will have onsite medical staff, thereby mitigating tragedies like Vincent Steele's fatality during a local New York wrestling show last month. This despite the rapid response from first responders who were on the scene within minutes of Steele's cardiac event. In years prior, WrestleMania week was the most lucrative timeframe for independent wrestling promotions to piggyback on the biggest wrestling event of the year. This meant wrestling fans were spoiled with a diverse array of renegade live entertainment. Everything from Bloodsport to Ring of Honor emanated all in one city. Now owned by rival promotion AEW, ROH Supercard of Honor will not take place during WrestleMania weekend per usual, and many of the more high-profile shows will happen under the WWE ID brand. Whether this is a sign of the corporatizing of WrestleMania week events, or a necessary sea change to make indie wrestling more professional, remains to be seen. Wrestlecon is a WrestleMania-week institution and one of the largest gatherings of pro wrestlers from the past, present and future of this business. This year's Wrestlecon emanates from the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino. In between wrestling events, WrestleMania tourists can play Topgolf at the MGM Grand, or Swingers Indoor Mini Golf at the Mandalay Bay for those with a stronger short game. No genre brings out the jubilant child among exuberant adults like pro wrestling, and Vegas' Play Playground at the Luxor does just that. With virtual reality, physical games and tactile games to name a few, the Play Playground is Chuck-E-Cheese for adults, equipped with a full bar. The Play Playground will play host to a video game tournament on Friday hosted by WWE's Mike Rome. For the more psychedelic tourist, the Omega Mart offers an interactive supermarket with several trap doors that lead to imaginative exhibits within an alternate reality. With origins dating back to 2009, Omega Mart features a display of custom-made products and contributions from over 300 artists that have to be seen to be believed. There is no shortage of meals and dining in Las Vegas. Wally's at Resorts World is a popular option for brunch, and the wood oven French Toast comes highly recommended. Beer Park in the Paris Hotel sets the perfect vibe for a pregame at a tailgate without the parking lot. For those looking for the best steak in Vegas, it's a tie between Orla at the Mandalay Bay and Barry's Downtown Prime at Circa Resort and Casino. Before attending any of the late night WrestleMania events, such as WrestleMania After Dark, fans are encouraged to enjoy a post-match drink at Glitter Gulch Tiki Bar. Las Vegas has something for everyone, and the entire city will exist in concert with WrestleMania and wrestling-themed activities. The theme will be 'Pick your Poison,' and with the latest-emanating WrestleMania of all time in Sin City, fans will have plenty of time to indulge.
