Panthers Morgan earns first GLVC Player of the Week honors

SPRINGFIELD–Drury baseball's Wyatt Morgan got a two-for-one deal out of his performance this past weekend. The graduate transfer from Missouri Southern not only helped the Panthers sweep the Southwest Baptist Bearcats in the final Great Lakes Valley Conference series of the regular season, but his effort at the plate also earned Morgan his first GLVC Player of the Week award. Over the four games, Morgan went 7-11, recording four walks, two doubles, three home runs, seven rbi, and also scored six times. Morgan becomes the third Panthers player to earn the honor this season. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Panthers sweep Bearcats in GLVC regular season finale

SPRINGFIELD–The Drury Panthers will carry momentum and confidence into next week's Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament, after sweeping all four games from Southwest Baptist in the final regular season conference series. The Panthers led by a run in the 6th and 7th innings, but both times, the Bearcats were able to scratch across a run to tie the game on rbi singles. But in the home-half of the 7th, Wyatt Morgan launched a no-doubt long ball over the right field fence to give Drury the lead for good, as it went on to win 7-5. With the sweep, the Panthers avenged its stumbling series loss to the Bearcats last spring. Drury went 1-3 against Southwest Baptist a year ago in their regular season conference finale, and missed out on improving its seeding in the Valley Tournament. Thanks to Saturday's victory, Drury finished the season 31-21 overall, 21-11 in the Valley, which was good enough to end up 4th place in the league, earning the Panthers a double-bye in next week's conference tournament. The Great Lakes Valley Tournament runs Wednesday, May 7-10. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
