Sambhal admin to raze 34 illegal structures, including dargah, for development projects

Meerut: A total of 34 structures, including a dargah, will be demolished in Sambhal's Chandausi subdivision as part of an eviction drive against encroachments on 6.5 bighas of public land. Officials said notices have been issued, and demolitions will begin in a week unless occupants vacate voluntarily. Sambhal DM Rajendra Pensiya said, "Many of these structures were constructed without proper authorisation or using fraudulent documents. These buildings will be demolished, followed by legal proceedings. The demolition expenses will be charged to occupants who fail to vacate within the given period. This campaign is necessary to ensure that development projects like road expansions are carried out without obstruction. " Municipal authorities have issued notices to the encroachers, and two vacant plots were found among the illegal possessions. During the process, the management committee of a mosque voluntarily demolished their structure after receiving notice. The mosque premises were then locked, and prayers were halted. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This Tiny Camera is Replacing Security Systems—No Fees, No Wires Secret Scope Camera Learn More Undo Work also began to shift the dargah of Yakub Ali Shah, located in Hayatnagar opposite Dharm Koop, to make way for the Bahjoi road expansion. Engineers from Roorkee were brought in to handle the technical challenge of relocating the dargah structure by 30 feet. They excavated nine feet of soil around the tomb and installed 60 jacks — 48 supporting the dome and 12 under the tomb. A workforce of 50 labourers is involved in the operation, which is expected to take about a week and cost Rs 20 lakh. Qari Nasir, the dargah's caretaker, said, "All precautions are being taken during the process. The dargah is being moved 30 feet away from the road to ensure it does not obstruct the upcoming road project." Public Works Department executive engineer Sunil Prakash said road widening would begin in full swing once the dargah is shifted. The demolition and relocation actions follow a land survey by the tehsil administration and revenue department about six weeks ago. Following the survey, municipal officials issued a 15-day notice to Maulana Mohammad Nazim, caretaker of the mosque that has since been voluntarily demolished.
