Ayo Edebiri directs Clairo's new music video starring ‘Weird Al' Yankovic
Fans should have expected the unexpected, as another celebrity makes a surprise appearance in the video, which premiered Thursday afternoon. The music video opens with a camera panning past silhouettes in front of a window before stopping on a front door which opens to reveal comedian, musician, and actor 'Weird Al' Yankovich. The opening credits for the video note that Yankovich stars in the video 'as Clairo.'

What unfolds is a strange and beautifully lit spectacle. As 'Clairo' emerges onto the lamp-lit facade, clad in a tuxedo, he begins lip-syncing the soft-sung words to 'Terrapin.' Clairo eventually comes onto the screen herself, but only sways dreamily to the music and stares at Yankovich as his mouthing continues.

The video ends with Yankovich reentering the house, quickly jerking his head around to get one final look at the audience before the door closes. As the camera pans back to the window, the credits begin to roll.
Edebiri is no stranger to directing, having previously helmed a season three episode of 'The Bear.' The episode earned Edebiri a Directors Guild of America Awards nomination. Shortly following the release of the music video, Edebiri posted on Instagram thanking everyone who worked on the project.
'Thanks for having me, Claire,' Edebiri wrote, while also thanking Yankovich, the cast, and crew, offering everyone 'lots of love.'
Edebiri was also recently featured in Tyler, the Creator's music video, 'Noid,' the second single off his 2024 album 'Chromakopia.' In the video, Edebiri played a terrifying, crazed fangirl.
