Central Bucks superintendent on leave amid allegations he misled police in abuse probe
The Central Bucks school board put Superintendent Steve Yanni on leave at Thursday after an independent investigation found that he and other administrators had misled police and parents about child abuse allegations at Jamison Elementary. School board President Susan Gibson announced that Yanni was put on leave as of 5 p.m. Thursday. Assistant Superintendent Charles Malone will take over as acting superintendent, Gibson said. A three-month investigation by Disability Rights Pennsylvania, a nonprofit with federal access authority to investigate public agencies on behalf of people with disabilities, concluded in a report published Wednesday that a teaacher and an aide had abused and neglected nonverbal children with autism in an elementary special education classroom. Investigators also found that Central Bucks administrators, including Yanni, had failed to provide relevant information to police and parents about the allegations. Although the district's own internal investigation had found evidence of abuse in the classroom, Central Bucks "erroneously informed parents of students … and the local police conducting the ChildLine investigation that the District's investigation found no evidence of abuse," investigators wrote. ChildLine is Pennsylvania's child abuse hotline. Warwick police and the Bucks County District attorney declined to press charges after a criminal investigation late last year. "Thus, it was just a self-fulfilling circle: Dr. Yanni provided limited information in the ChildLine report and to the police; Dr. Yanni told the police that the District's investigation found no abuse; the police relied on that conclusion in closing the file; and (the head of HR, Rob) Freiling disowned any responsibility for the District to investigate abuse as it was the police's role," investigators wrote. The separate third-party investigation that the board approved earlier this year is still pending, Gibson said Thursday. Fundraiser to help whistleblower who exposed coworkers' behavior at Plymouth child care center
Support for a former employee at Lil' Explorers Child Care in Plymouth has been launched after she exposed the inappropriate and abusive behavior shown by some staff members towards children in her care. Yanni Thomas, of Maple Grove, detailed the allegations in a Facebook post last week, posting videos that depicted a female coworker screaming and sweating at preschool-age children, before aggressively picking them and up and roughly placing them into chairs. Thomas announced in the post that she was quitting the childcare center as it "does not align with what I stand for ethically or morally when it comes to the safety and happiness of the children." A spokesperson for the business told Bring Me The News that multiple employees have been fired since the videos and allegations were shared by Police Department continues to investigate the incidents at Lil' Explorers. A GoFundMe created by Stephanie Studer, parent of a child who attended the daycare called Thomas's actions "courageous." "Her actions have led to a police and DHS investigation and have raised critical awareness of the need for safer childcare environments," she wrote. Studer says that Thomas's dream has been to open her own daycare someday, sparking her decision to launch the fundraiser. "Let's come together to help Yanni turn this dream into a reality. Funds raised will go towards everything she needs to work towards building a daycare that prioritizes kindness, safety, and respect for every child," she wrote. "Yanni is the hero in our children's story, and now we have the chance to change hers," she adds. "By supporting Yanni, we are not only thanking her for her bravery but also ensuring that more children have a safe place to learn and grow under the care of someone we trust." As of Tuesday afternoon, the fundraiser has raised nearly $1,500 of its $5,000 goal.

A sleeved turtleneck if you're trying to curate additional "basics" that can be worn daily but want to add a little spice. The fabric is a not-itchy wool blend, too, so consider this a win-win all around. Nordstrom Promising review: " It feels extremely soft and doesn't look like wool at all. I ended up buying another black one and a white one. I'm very happy with my purchase. If you prefer a snug fit, it is true to size, but if you want a looser fit, get the next size up." — Yanni Price: $27.80+ (originally $69.50, available in sizes XXS–XXL and in five colors) 2. A Breda bracelet watch to embellish any outfit with a touch of zhuzh. This timeless accessory is chic and guaranteed to become one of those heirloom-like purchases you'll pass down for generations. Sam Edelman knee-high boots perfect for miles-long strolls from one bar to the next because while these seem super fancy, they're also inexplicably comfortable. Nordstrom Promising review:"Ladies! I rarely write reviews, but I just wore these boots yesterday, was on my feet all day, and walked four miles!! Most boots kill my feet, but because these boots aren't so high on the ball of the foot, they are so great for walking and long days!!!" — Monet2F Price: $139.90+ (originally $200; available in sizes 5–11, including regular and wide calf options, and in four colors) 7. A wool blend coat that's the ideal one-and-done: a simple ensemble that requires no true effort but looks like it took quite a lot of it (i.e., just pair this over black leggings and a black sweater and you're golden). Nordstrom 8. A jersey dress that looks like it was plucked from the set of a film where the main character has a terrible boss but a fabulous job in publishing. Please tell me that you know what I mean. 9. New Balance 327 sneakers with a cushioned insole and slightly elevated heel to make every step feel like walking on a fluffy, tangible cloud. 10. A Jeffrey Campbell leather satchel if you'd like to say "be gone" to the fancy occasion clutches that hold nothing but a tube of lipstick. Fancy but functional solution, below. 11. Open Edit booties that don't require any break-in time which, in our book, is the only criteria that matters ahead of purchasing things last-minute before packing a bag and getting on a flight (read: NYC review featured). Nordstrom Promising review:"Wore these for first time ever in NYC and wore them all night without breaking them in. My feet didn't hurt at all. They are so comfortable and stylish." — Sarly Price: $62.96+ (originally $89.95; available in sizes 5–11 and in three colors) 12. A sleeved sweater dress/top hybrid for a striking silhouette that makes your most basic blue jeans look like they stepped out of Law Roach's styling rack. 15. A satin skirt I'm personally knighting with the title "fancy winter uniform" for how beautifully it paired with a chunky turtleneck and knee-high boots. Nordstrom Promising review:"Truly so impressed with this skirt, so comfortable and easy to dress up or down. I love where the length ends and can be easily worn in any season." — Littleoldsoul 16. A Marc Jacobs dual bag with an oversize (but not too oversize) silhouette, perfect for commutes into the office and a seamless transition to happy hour right after. The lime green inner lining and smooth leather exterior = swoon. Nordstrom 17. A sleeved mini dress vying for the title of "gorgeous thing you wear when you don't know what else to wear" in your closet. So long, outfit dilemmas: the solution is officially found. Nordstrom Promising review:"This dress is a dream. It hugs in all the right places. It does have small shoulder pads but they didn't bother me a bit. The material does have a little stretch but overall I found this to be TTS." — DaniD23 18. A double-breasted blazer for a CEO uniform that's easy to throw on when you're already running late to a presentation. Who will know that you did your makeup on public transit? No one. Nordstrom 19. An Eileen Fisher shirt jacket crafted from organic cotton that drapes beautifully over any tee in your closet — and looks far more polished. Nordstrom Promising review:"This shirt is super comfortable. It's a heavy-weight cotton that is structured but also very stretchy. I think I'll wear this shirt often during California winters and into spring. I'll be wearing a shirt and a jacket. This is it if you're looking for a good quality collared shirt." — Babypenny 20. Vagabond moto boots that all the cool girls are wearing according to my research (read: hours-long Instagram scrolling to delay my real-life responsibilities). Nordstrom Promising review:"These are fierce and the quality is top notch. I 10/10 recommend and they offer a ton of styling options." — sugarbug 21. A classic trench coat which functions as a simple extension of the black blazer in that it provides effortless polish. This one checks all the boxes: perfect taupe (or military green) hue, storm flaps, maxi length, cinched-waist back for structure. 22. A faux-fur jacket available in a deliciously rich milk chocolate if you're trying to deviate from your usual all-black uniform — but don't want the headache of having to color coordinate. This remains easy to style. Nordstrom 23. An embroidered T-shirt because it's just an elevated version of the everyday basic, meaning you can pair it with jeans and sneaks when you're feeling caj and a long skirt and heels when the work meeting turns in-person. Steven Madden booties with an itty bitty heel for folks who want a little height but don't want the pressure of walking around on stilts. Cue Jennifer Lawrence falling up the stairs to accept her Oscar. Respectfully. Nordstrom Promising review:"These boots are everything!
