Royal Ascot will welcome a band of chefs carrying 28 Michelin stars to its race this year as the likes of event chef patron Raymond Blanc, Lisa Goodwin-Allen cook to the sound of thudding hooves. Ascot said its Chefs in Residency move this year will bring about the most stars 'of any sporting event worldwide' and though this is difficult to verify, it is a lot either way. Two new chefs to make their debut at the racing event are Yannick Alléno and Benoit Blin, the latter of whom, a master pâtissier, has created a race course-inspired afternoon tea. Others on the roster this year are Simon Rogan of the three Michelin-star restaurant L'Enclume, Tom Shepherd from Upstairs in Lichfield, Tom Barnes from Skof in Manchester, and Saturday Kitchen star James Tanner. Dubbed the 'Chefs in Residence', each will present a menu, from canapés to dessert, to be offered to guests at Ascot (who don't mind spending big on food as well as horses). Jonathan Parker, managing director at 1711 by Ascot, said: 'Fine dining at Royal Ascot has gone from strength to strength, and each year we strive to elevate the experience. This year is no exception with Royal Ascot 2025 set to be the world's most Michelin-starred sporting event, boasting a collective total of 28 stars. 'We're also delighted to celebrate Raymond Blanc's tenth year as chef patron, a milestone that underscores his enduring brilliance. At the same time, we're thrilled to welcome superstar chef Yannick Alléno for his debut, alongside a remarkable lineup of talent that reflects the innovation and style of both the global and domestic culinary scene.'
