McLaren commemorates 30 years since Le Mans triumph with limited-run 750S Le Mans Supercar

MCLAREN Automotive has unveiled a special edition of its 750S supercar to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its historic victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1995. This exclusive model, dubbed the 750S Le Mans, marks both a tribute to the brand's motorsport legacy and its forthcoming return to the event's top-tier category in 2027. Only 50 units of this special edition will be produced, making it one of the rarest and most desirable McLaren series production cars to date. On June 18 1995, the McLaren F1 GTR bearing the number 59 secured an overall win at the world's most prestigious endurance race. Piloted by JJ Lehto, Yannick Dalmas, and Masanori Sekiya, the car led a fleet of McLarens that finished with three additional entries in the top five—an extraordinary debut for the marque at Le Mans. In a fitting tribute, two McLaren GT3 EVO race cars based on the 750S are set to contest the LMGT3 class at the 2025 edition of the race, just days before the anniversary. The design of the 750S Le Mans draws direct inspiration from the victorious F1 GTR. The car is available in Le Mans Grey—mirroring the original race car's livery—or McLaren Orange. A gloss black carbon fibre roof scoop and a set of 5-spoke LM wheels complete the exterior homage. Each car also comes equipped with the newly developed MSO High Downforce Kit (HDK), which includes a raised carbon fibre active rear spoiler with integrated endplates, a pronounced front bumper with an enlarged carbon splitter, and a rear wing, all of which collectively boost aerodynamic downforce by 10% over the standard 750S. Additional features such as gloss black louvres and a new under-wing panel enhance both form and function. Inside, owners can choose between two distinct interior configurations: Carbon Black with Dove Grey or Carbon Black with McLaren Orange, both upholstered in a mix of Alcantara and Jet Black softgrain leather. Le Mans branding is subtly integrated into the headrests, floor mats, and a bespoke plaque mounted inside each vehicle, reinforcing its limited-run status and historic significance. A wealth of exclusive features accompanies the 750S Le Mans, including F1 Gold brake callipers with red McLaren logos, centre wheel caps with bespoke colour detailing, and gloss black carbon fibre elements throughout the exterior. Buyers may also opt for a suite of additional customisations, ranging from carbon fibre visual packs covering intakes, spoilers, and diffusers to a track brake upgrade and a commemorative plaque listing McLaren's 1995 Le Mans win and other major motorsport achievements. Powering the 750S Le Mans is McLaren's M840T 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, producing 750PS. The lightweight carbon fibre Monocage II structure, combined with the Proactive Chassis Control III suspension, ensures the car retains its position as the lightest and most agile in its segment. The addition of HDK components not only refines its dynamic capability but further aligns it with McLaren's track-focused ethos. With production limited to just 50 examples worldwide, the McLaren 750S Le Mans is set to become a collector's item and a powerful symbol of the brand's rich racing heritage and future ambitions.

McLaren Unveils 750S Le Mans Edition to Mark 30 Years Since 1995 Victory with MSO Upgrades

On June 18, 1995, the #59 McLaren F1 GTR of JJ Letho, Yannick Dalmas, and Masanori Sekiya claimed victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans on the automaker's debut as a constructor. An additional three McLaren F1 GTRs joined them in the top five placings. Three decades have passed since the landmark achievement, and McLaren is celebrating it with a 750S coupe fitted with an MSO High Downforce Kit (HDK) and other track-focused enhancements. Only 50 will be built, so its collector's status is guaranteed. The aerodynamic enhancements of the HDK add a sense of drama to the exterior and include a bigger carbon front splitter, a raised carbon-fiber Active Rear Spoiler with integral end plates, and a body-color carbon-fiber under-wing panel with louvers in gloss black. These items are claimed to increase downforce by 10%. The 50 special cars will also have unique five-spoke LM wheels, Le Mans branding, and a roof scoop and louvered front fenders made from carbon fiber. Only two exterior paint colors will be offered: McLaren Orange and Le Mans Grey. The two interior color schemes are Carbon Black and Dove Grey Alcantara with Jet Black leather, contrasted with either Dove Grey or McLaren Orange Alcantara. A commemorative plaque and Le Mans-branded headrests and floormats are standard too. Each owner will have access to a list of expensive options to make their 1-of-50 car truly unique. These include various parts available in Gloss Visual Carbon Fiber: Parts like mirror caps, hood vents, side intakes, and spoiler end platesAn underbody pack, including rear spoiler, rear diffuser, and front splitterA louver package, including those on the fenders and under the rear wing Under the skin, this is still a 750S, so you get the twin-turbocharged M840T V8 engine with 740 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, driving the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. This combination is good for a 0-62 mph sprint in 2.8 seconds. McLaren doesn't say by how much the HDK affects the regular 750S's 206-mph top speed. McLaren will be returning to the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2027. Copyright 2025 The Arena Group, Inc. All Rights Reserved.

McLaren Is Milking Its Le Mans History Again. But We're Here for It

Thirty years ago, McLaren won Le Mans on its debut, with JJ Lehto, Yannick Dalmas, and Masanori Sekiya piloting an F1 GTR to victory ahead of heavily favored protoypes. It helped seal the legend of the F1, and made McLaren the only constructor to win motorsport's triple crown, with victories at Le Mans, Monaco, and Indy. To commemorate, McLaren has created the 750S Le Mans, which has all kinds of neat details that reference the F1 GTR. McLaren will build 50 examples, each in one of two color options. The Le Mans Gray references the livery of the Uneo Clinic-sponsored car that won, while the McLaren Orange is painted in the company's traditional racing color. The car features a new High-Downforce Kit (HDK), which consists of a much larger splitter and a carbon-fiber wing out back. You also get roof scoop, and amazing five-spoke "LM" wheels that nod to the OZ Racing wheels used on the first F1 GTR race cars. The wheel center caps are red on one side of the car, and blue on the other, which is another race-car detail. Photo by: McLaren If you opt for the track brake upgrade kit, you get calipers in an anodized gold, like the Brembos on the original race car. Inside you can get black or gray trim with two different bucket seat options. The five-point harnesses are also blue, again, just like the GTR's, though we'll likely get regular old three-point belts here in the US. There are also plenty of options, most notably, a range of gloss carbon-fiber exterior components. This is actually McLaren's third Le Mans edition, with the company offering similar packages for the 650S and 720S. You could accuse McLaren of milking its history, but when the history is this good, why not? The F1 GTR is an icon among icons, and its victory in 1995 was the first for a debutant constructor in decades. It's also a feat that hasn't been repeated since. McLaren currently has GT3 cars racing at Le Mans, but it's making a comeback to the top class in 2027, with an LMDh prototype set to contest the World Endurance Championship. With any hope, that car could give McLaren another excuse to make a special edition.
