Jacques Chirac Rabat Students Win Chemistry Olympiad for Morocco in Paris
Rabat – Morocco has won first place at the 41st National Chemistry Olympiad held in Paris on May 15. Two students from Rabat's Jacques Chirac School, Yasmine Kadmiri Idrissi and Yassine Bekkaoui, stood out among 3,500 participants worldwide. Their project, titled 'Chemistry at a Gallop!' linked the science of doping detection with Morocco's traditional horse-riding practice, Tbourida. The students used modern chemistry techniques like chromatography and mass spectrometry to simulate the detection of doping substances, like caffeine and betamethasone, in horses. Their work also included raising local awareness and creating digital content. The project also focused on the cultural importance of Tbourida, recognized by UNESCO, while addressing the ethical challenges of doping in sport, said the school in a press release. They also developed a natural anti-inflammatory gel for horses, called Lavandéquin. 'They successfully showcased Moroccan science by combining academic rigor, creativity, and deep cultural pride,' added the statement. The school said that Yasmine and Yassine impressed the jury of the 'Let's Talk Chemistry' competition with their 'ambitious and original project.' During their research, Yasmine and Yassine visited a Tbourida event in Tiflet to observe the close relationship between riders and horses. They also studied the cultural and religious symbolism of this practice. The two students also visited the anti-doping laboratory at IAV Hassan II. 'Driven by a desire to defend Moroccan equine heritage from the dangers of doping, the project also integrated strong ethical and societal dimensions,' the school remarked. Jacques Chirac School says Yasmine and Yassine hope to continue their research and promote scientific education in Morocco.

EXCLUSIVE Celebs Go Dating sign Made In Chelsea star as last-minute addition as filming with Christine McGuinness and Olivia Hawkins begins in Ibiza
Celebs Go Dating has signed a Made In Chelsea star as a last-minute addition to the upcoming series, MailOnline can reveal. Kerry Katona, 44, and Christine McGuinness, 37, have jet to Ibiza with the E4 cast ahead of filming after it was revealed Paddy's ex-wife would be up for dating both men and women on the show. And now MailOnline can reveal a Chelsea favourite has joined the lineup, which includes former Love Island star Liv Hawkins, 29, S Club 7 singer Jon Lee, 43, and Mark 'The Beast' Labbett, 59, famed for his appearances on The Chase. Sam Price, 28, who has previously dated Lottie Moss and Inga Valentiner, will feature in the new series following his split from Chelsea co-star Yasmine Zweegers. The cast of singletons jet to the White Isle on Monday to start filming with relationship experts Paul C. Brunson and Anna Williamson, as comedian Rob Beckett returns as the show's narrator. A TV source told MailOnline: 'Sam is the perfect contestant for Celebs Go Dating... He's had a string of failed relationships and now as he reaches his late 20s, he's keen to learn the error of his ways. 'He started dating ex-girlfriend Yasmine hours after his relationship with Inga ended, which caused huge upset in the Made In Chelsea cast. 'There have certainly been situations that Paul will need to analyse and hopefully give Sam the necessary feedback he needs to grow.' Sam joined Made In Chelsea in 2017 and is known for causing conflict on the E4 series, as well as dating many of his co-stars. He had a long-term relationship with former cast member Inga before she quit the show in the aftermath of their breakup. Right after they separated, Sam moved on with Yasmine, who was one of Igna's close friends, causing them to dramatically fallout. In November last year, Sam and Yasmine's one-year romance came to an end and they stopped making their jointly run podcast. They are both appearing on the current season of Made In Chelsea, with the latest episode seeing Yasmine in tears after she was faced with Sam going on a date with co-star Zeyno Taylan. Single Sam, who also has history with Kate Moss' half-sister Lottie, is leaving Chelsea behind for Ibiza as he joins the cast for the latest Celebs Go Dating. This year's cast features Christine, who will be open to dating both men and women on the show. Christine was married to TV presenter Paddy for 11 years before they split for good in 2022. After they stayed living together for the sake of their three children, twins Leo and Penelope, and daughter Felicity, who have all been diagnosed with autism, the ex-couple finalised their divorce out of court last summer. Christine has revealed how 'difficult' the breakup had been for her, as the pair's marital home, a Cheshire mansion worth £6.5million, was put on the market. She said: 'I've never spoken about the reasons for our divorce, and I don't know if I ever will. 'It was a difficult time. It wasn't something that, you know, I just decided to do overnight, or that we chose to do. 'We tried, and, yeah, there just, unfortunately, there was no repairing it, you know?'

Pakistan and India border closure separates families
fTwo months ago, Haider Ali waved goodbye to his wife as she left Pakistan, crossing the border to visit her family in India. Now the couple are not sure when they will see each other again. Pakistan and India are locked in an escalating diplomatic war of words after New Delhi said Islamabad was linked to a militant attack on tourists in Indian-administered Kashmir this week. Both sides have cancelled visas for Indian and Pakistani nationals respectively and ordered them to leave, before both shut their busiest border crossing in Punjab. "She's on the Indian side of the border and they're not letting her cross. I'm extremely worried," Ali, a 31-year-old heating technician, told AFP. Ali said his wife, an Indian national, has a Pakistani visa valid until November and was due to return home to Karachi soon, as he waited for news on the Pakistani side of the crossing. "The real terrorists should be caught and action taken against them, but it's ordinary people like us who are suffering unjustly," he added. Indian police have launched a manhunt for the fugitive gunmen, two of whom they say are Pakistani. The orders for Pakistanis and Indians to return home has distressed many families of mixed nationalities, who often struggle to obtain visas because of poor relations between Hindu-majority Indian and Muslim-majority Pakistan. Yasmine, 54, who gave up her Indian passport to marry a Pakistani, rushed to the border to return home after visiting family in India for the first time in 15 years. While she crossed with her Pakistani papers, her niece travelling with her and also married to a Pakistani was left stranded at the border, prevented from crossing back into the country because she only has an Indian passport. "She's just crying. We absolutely must give her a visa as soon as possible. Her four children are here in Pakistan, waiting for her," Yasmine told AFP. "TO PART LIKE THIS" The measures have also abruptly ended rare visits to see relatives separated for generations by the border, born out of India's independence from the British in 1947. "I'm Indian, I love India, but my family is here. And it's not like I hate Pakistan - I love Pakistan too," said 39-year-old Ghaffar Musafir, who lives in Indian-administered Kashmir. He had hoped to spend longer rekindling ties with his relatives, travelling to the Pakistani city of Lahore to apply for an extension before diplomatic relations plunged.
