LUX Has Turned Hitting the Like Button Into a Power Move in New Campaign. And We Love How Unapologetic It Is!

By Editor_wr On Apr 19, 2025 The Like button was born on Feb 9, 2009. Ever since, it's been running the show. With many using likes and comments to pass judgements on women and expressions of beauty, this has led women to quietly self-edit their expressions of beauty. But LUX believes beauty isn't something to be measured. It's meant to be owned. It's power. It's strength. That's why LUX is flipping the script with its campaign – My Like First. A social first campaign to inspire women to like their own posts first. Not for engagement. Not for the algorithm. But as a bold, unapologetic declaration of self-love. And we are all for it. On social media, liking one's own posts is considered cringe and vain – even frowned upon. But LUX wants women to own it and give the Like button a whole new meaning. Women who are liking their own posts are saying loud and clear: 'I am beautiful and I already know it.' With leading actress Yasmine Sabri paving the way, and a wave of unapologetic women across the Middle East and Indonesia joining in, women are making a sassy and bold declaration. Want in? Hit that heart. For yourself. Take a look… ( Created in collaboration with VML Singapore, the campaign reflects a shared belief in storytelling that inspires women to own their beauty on their terms. Mohamed Ramadan's 'Hatgely': Social Media Stunt or Just Riding the Trend Wave?

You've probably come across the poster for Mohamed Ramadan's latest track, Hatgely. Honestly, does he ever stay out of controversy even for a few days? Even those who aren't necessarily fans seem to find themselves talking about him and the heated debates he always manages to stir up. But this time, the buzz started even before the track dropped. All it took was the poster, one that clearly referenced his previous viral moment with Yasmine Sabri during Ramadan. It didn't take long before people started calling him out for being disrespectful and out of line toward a colleague once again. So, the question is: was this whole thing just a calculated social media stunt? Or is he simply jumping on his own trend wagon? Honestly, both feel so off. This is the textbook example of the 'bad publicity is still publicity' mindset. And sure, that might get attention, but is it really worth it? There's something troubling about an artist who constantly chases controversy to stay relevant. Finally, what defines you as an artist—or an actor—isn't how many times you stir up drama. It's what you deliver to your audience, and how you respect your craft and colleagues is what truly matters.

Mohamed Ramadan and Yasmine Sabri: When Ego Gets in the Way of Respect

It's not new for Mohamed Ramadan to stir up controversy every now and then—he always knows how to get people talking. But this season feels different. There's a wave of clashing,, and somehow, his name keeps popping up in the middle. Moving on from Madfa3 Ramadan—a project that got mixed reactions from the start, with many receiving it positively and seeing it as an attempt by Mohamed Ramadan to reconnect with his audience face to face. That came after a series of controversial incidents where his behavior was often described as vulgar or rude, distancing him from parts of the public. However, the calm didn't last long before another incident sparked debate. It all started at a Ramadan gathering where Yasmine Sabri was seen greeting Mohamed Ramadan in a casual, friendly way. What happened next caught everyone off guard—he responded by waving her off dramatically, acting as if she were out of line. The reaction felt exaggerated and unnecessary, especially since she was clearly being warm and polite, but it came off more as a stuck-up move than anything else. To keep it short, being an actor comes with responsibilities. Treating others with respect —whether it's a colleague, a fellow actor, a fan, or even a stranger—says more about who you truly are than any crafted public image ever could. No matter how much effort you invest into creating a certain 'aura,' your real personality always finds a way to surface.
