Awqaf Abu Dhabi launches Dh50m community centre as first project under Life Endowment campaign
22 May 2025 14:21 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)The Endowments and Minors Funds Authority (Awqaf Abu Dhabi) has launched the Awqaf Abu Dhabi – Community Centre, the first of a series of projects it planned under the Life Endowment campaign. The campaign, which aims to support chronic disease patients, is organised in collaboration with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi under the slogan - With You For the objective of enhancing the sustainability of healthcare services and covering the cost of treatment for the most vulnerable patients, the Life Endowment campaign reflects the spirit of giving and solidarity embodied by the UAE's Year of the Dh50 million Awqaf Abu Dhabi – Community Centre is set to offer a blend of shopping, entertainment and culture, making it a vibrant hub for community Awqaf Abu Dhabi – Community Centre offers an experience that merges modern spaces and Emirati identity, meeting the needs of residents and visitors alike. As Awqaf Abu Dhabi plans to construct the project in Abu Dhabi City, the community centre is expected to cement the city's economic and tourist status, while promoting social engagement and raising awareness about the importance of endowments and social contributions. The project is expected to provide community members with increased job opportunities while utilising unused lands and their on the projects, Abdulhamid Mohammed Saeed, Chairman of the Endowments and Minors Funds Authority (Awqaf Abu Dhabi), said: 'The launch of the Life Endowment campaign establishes a vital model for sustainably supporting those with chronic diseases who cannot afford treatment and ensuring continued access to healthcare services." He added, "We are committed to achieving the campaign's goals by investing endowment funds in high-quality projects that generate strong returns, ultimately benefiting, developing, and economically empowering the community.'Saeed noted that the Awqaf Abu Dhabi – Community Centre will not only generate returns for the endowment fund but also deliver significant community benefits, including raising awareness of the importance of endowments and encouraging community engagement, while also promoting the economic development of the surrounding emphasised that the Life Endowment campaign strengthens the culture of social solidarity and collective action to improve community sectors, particularly healthcare, which is the campaign's primary focus. Saeed noted that the campaign also highlights Awqaf Abu Dhabi's leadership in managing and investing endowment funds to maximise social impact and sustain resources for charitable work. He concluded by encouraging everyone to actively participate in the Life Endowment campaign to support those with chronic diseases, reinforcing community solidarity and embodying the UAE's deeply rooted values of giving and Life Endowment campaign aims to enhance the healthcare services' sustainability and provide sustainable funding to treat vulnerable patients with chronic diseases. It also seeks to strengthen the healthcare system's capacity to address future challenges. The campaign will establish an endowment to cover treatment costs for those in need, while also investing in improved healthcare services, medication provision, and access to mental health support. 3 Apr 2025 11:12 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)The Emirates College for Advanced Education (ECAE) hosted a series of joint reading sessions for students and families as part of the iRead initiative, celebrating Reading Month and supporting the aspirations of the UAE's Year of the initiative aimed to strengthen family and community bonds by encouraging connections across generations, creating inclusive spaces that promote cooperation and belonging, and preserving cultural heritage through shared reading college welcomed more than 100 students from various schools, along with their families and educators, for group reading sessions in a collaborative and interactive engaged in discussions, read together, and explored the ideas in the books and stories presented. These sessions offered a meaningful opportunity for families and schools to come together, share moments of inspiration, and establish a deeper connection through the power of Chancellor at ECAE, Dr May Laith Al Taee, said, "The iRead initiative aims to instill a love of reading in children and provide an interactive environment that encourages everyone to engage with books. We believe that reading is not just a skill, but a window that opens horizons of knowledge and helps shape the mindset of the next generation. Through these sessions, we strengthen ties between families, schools, and the community, encouraging everyone to actively participate in building a knowledge-based society."The sessions included a reading by ECAE student Eman Fathalla of her original story, The Cloud that Rained Laughter, while fellow ECAE student Safa Alsafwani, presented her story, Life on Planet Earth. The third session saw Sally Al Waswasy share her original story, The Magical Garden, creating an inspiring and interactive reading experience for all. ECAE continues to promote these initiatives, which contribute to building a cohesive society, in line with the UAE's vision of empowering people and achieving sustainable growth in various fields.
