ITV axes chat show with beloved celebrity host as broadcaster 'moves away from the studio format' as part of latest schedule shake-up
ITV has axed Chris McCausland 's chat show in a move away from the studio interview format. The comedian, 47, landed his own programme The Chris McCausland Show, which aired on Saturday mornings at 8:30am on ITV from June 2024. The programme saw Chris - who is blind due to retinitis pigmentosa - interviewing a number of famous faces including Celebrity Big Brother 's Donna Preston, singer Pixie Lott, funnyman Rob Beckett and actress Taj Atwell. But after just one series it has been shelved. A source told The Sun: ' ITV appears to be moving away from studio-based chat shows in their weekend schedule. 'In the last number of years they've invested heavily in their daytime programmes and have given new faces an opportunity to shine. 'Chris was a breath of a fresh air, but ultimately there are no plans for his show to return.' ITV said of the show: 'This 11-episode series will feature a brilliant line-up of celebrity guests and will be packed with humour, insights and inevitable shenanigans. 'Chris will immerse his guests in his audio world with interactive games that will have viewers of all ages laughing and playing along at home. 'And to top it all off, he'll have live acoustic performances that will be the soundtrack of your weekend.' Viewers will be happy to know that all 11 episodes of the programme are available to watch on ITVX. Despite his show getting axed, Chris has been very busy since winning the 22nd series of the Strictly Come Dancing in 2024.` In January he revealed that he signed with Penguin Michael Joseph Publishing Director Rowland White to release a memoir in autumn 2025. Chris said at the time: 'I thought Strictly was terrifying but my book has a release date and I haven't started writing it yet. 'Don't worry, I'm going to start right now. 'It will be really funny, I promise.' In May Chris will also be taking to the stage for his show Yonks! He will be performing in a number of theatres across the UK, in locations such as Chester, St Albans, Warrington and Dudley. As well as that he has also been recording the Winning Isn't Everything Podcast with former Strictly partner Dianne. Chris will be appearing in a new documentary on BBC Two very soon too. The new show, named Chris McCausland: Seeing into the Future, and follows self-confessed junkie research look into things such as robots and driverless cars. It will follow him in the UK and travel over to Silicon Valley to see what could happen in the future of tech. Chris said of the doc: 'I've always been a tech nerd, and now I can't wait to finally get to count this indulgence as work. 'I'm going to love trying out the latest gadgets and gismos before anybody else can. 'I'm also going to try and make friends with some robots, because it probably won't be long until they're in charge of us all.'

BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell say 'never' as they're issued same fan response
Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell have been issued the same response from fans as they were given a warning after making a 'never' claim. This week, the pair revealed they had been reunited for the first time since winning Strictly Come Dancing last year. There were tears aplenty when the comedian and the professional dancer lifted the coveted Glitterball trophy back in December. Unlike some of the other couples, their dancing journey came to an abrupt end and the emotional pair went their separate way and while Dianne joined her co-stars on the Strictly Come Dancing Live 2025 tour, Chris headed back to his stand-up tour, Yonks!, which he started before signing up to the hit dance show. It was sooooo good to see ya partner #winningisnteverything." Dianne, as she mentioned, took the Glitterball with her and they posed for a smiling selfie with the miniture version of the real trophy. The photo was then shared to their podcast's Instagram page but the Gliterball had been replaced with a Bafta. The award is voted on by the public and aims to celebrate the most impactful parts of the year's television. The Strictly winners, who are the second-ever to be nominated following Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice, are nominated for their performance of You'll Never Walk Alone, which saw Dianne leave the ballroom floor so her partner could dance on his own before she returned to spinning in his arms moments later in tear-jerking scenes.
