York County Council adopts $515 million annual budget
YORK COUNTY, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — On June 2, the York County Council gave their final approval of the fiscal year 2025-206 budget.
The $515 million budget is driven by the county's 2025-2027 Strategic Plan, which prioritizes funding for core services, employee benefits, capital projects and infrastructure needs.
The budget does not contain a general fund tax increase for this year. In fact, this budget eliminates some taxes.
Key takeaways:
$214 million for roads, buildings, and utility projects
Elimination of approximately $2 million dollars in taxes
Removal of daily park entrance fees for ALL York County citizens beginning July 1
The budget also includes investments in key areas, such as hiring additional parks staff, opening a new park, enhancing employee benefits, investing in utility infrastructure, funding for roads, funding an agriculture facility in partnership with local schools, and replacing fire vehicles, among other budget initiatives that benefit our taxpayers.
