On May 16, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) arrested and charged Amarianna Mitchell.
SLED received information regarding possible animal mistreatment at Mitchell's home. Sheriffs say a preliminary investigation revealed that Mitchell had left her pet dog outside for several days without adequate food, water or shelter.
Following her arrest, she was placed on administrative leave without pay, pending an internal review of the incident.
Mitchell was booked into the York County Detention Center.
