Vaani Kapoor 'Deletes' Abir Gulaal Posts Featuring Fawad Khan After His Account Blocked In India
Last Updated: As India tightens digital restrictions on Pakistani artistes after the Pahalgam terror attack, Vaani Kapoor's posts promoting her film, Abir Gulaal, with Fawad Khan has vanished. As India tightens digital restrictions on Pakistani artistes in the aftermath of the recent Pahalgam terror attack, Bollywood actress Vaani Kapoor's social media posts promoting her upcoming film Abir Gulaal have vanished from her profile. The sudden disappearance sparked speculation that Kapoor had deliberately distanced herself from the project. However, the truth is that the posts were not deleted manually by the actress. Abir Gulaal, a romantic comedy featuring Kapoor opposite Pakistani actor Fawad Khan, was originally scheduled for release on May 9, 2025. Many of Vaani's promotional materials were shared as Instagram collab posts with Fawad Khan, whose account has now been restricted in India following a government directive. As a result, the posts disappeared automatically from Kapoor's feed due to the removal of Fawad's content from the platform in the country. This means that she didn't remove it herself, hence, people outside India can still see Abir Gulaal's posts on her account. For those who are coming in late, Indian authorities imposed a ban on the film's release within the country after the deadly Pahalgam terrorist attack that killed 26 tourists. The film has reportedly been banned from release in India. Alongside Instagram content, songs and teasers from the film have also been pulled down from YouTube India. Meanwhile, Instagram accounts of several high-profile Pakistani artists, including Fawad Khan, Atif Aslam, and Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, are now inaccessible to users in India. Attempting to visit their profiles prompts a message indicating that the content has been restricted due to a legal request. Several Pak Artistes have also been banned in India. Vaani Kapoor has not issued an official statement statement. On April 22, terror returned to Kashmir's scenic Pahalgam as armed militants opened fire on a group of tourists, turning a peaceful visit into a nightmare. According to accounts from survivors and grieving families, the attackers reportedly asked the tourists their names and religion before opening fire. Those who identified themselves as Hindus were shot dead on the spot, while Muslim individuals were reportedly asked to recite the Kalma before being spared. The brutality of the attack left 26 people dead, including a tourist from Nepal. Survivors, many of them women and relatives of the victims, were spared but told to go back and 'tell the government what happened," according to their statements to the media. Vaani Kapoor removes all posts on 'Abir Gulaal' and co-star Fawad Khan after Pahalgam attack fallout
As diplomatic tensions flare between India and Pakistan following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Bollywood actress Vaani Kapoor has seemingly scrubbed all traces of her upcoming film ' Abir Gulaal ' from her social media handles. The romantic comedy, which was slated for a May 9 release, saw the actress starring alongside Pakistani actor Fawad Khan . However, following the terror attack, the movie has now been officially banned in India. The move comes as part of a broader crackdown on cross-border cultural collaborations, with Abir Gulaal being one of the first high-profile casualties. In addition to Kapoor's social media, all songs and promotional content related to the film have been removed from YouTube India. The actress' move to delete all traces of the film from her handle comes after the Indian government blocked access to the Instagram accounts of several prominent Pakistani artists . Among those now restricted in India are Fawad Khan, singer Atif Aslam, and Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, among others. Those attempting to view their profiles within the country are met with a blank page and a message stating, 'Account not available in India. This is because we complied with a legal request to restrict this content.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Google Brain Co-Founder Andrew Ng, Recommends: Read These 5 Books And Turn Your Life Around Blinkist: Andrew Ng's Reading List Undo Instagram further clarified the action in a statement, 'We reviewed it against our policies and conducted a legal and human rights assessment. After the review, we restricted access to the content in the location where it goes against local law.' The digital restrictions were preceded by similar blocks on the profiles of Hania Aamir, Mahira Khan, and Ali Zafar — all with significant Indian fan followings. Abir Gulaal, directed by debutant filmmaker Zoya Sabir, had generated buzz for its bold cross-border casting and theme of love amidst political tension.

Fawad Khan's 'Abir Gulaal' songs removed after Pahalgam terror attack
The upcoming film Abir Gulaal , starring Pakistani actor Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor, has encountered major setbacks following the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22. The attack, which claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists, has sparked outrage across the country, leading to widespread calls for a boycott of the film. In the wake of this growing controversy, promotional content for Abir Gulaal has started to vanish from public view. Two songs from the film, Khudaya Ishq and Angreji Rangrasiya , which were previously released, have been removed from YouTube India. Both songs were originally available on the official YouTube channels of the production company, A Richer Lens Entertainment, as well as Saregama, which holds the music rights. However, they are no longer accessible on these platforms. Reported India Today. Another track, Tain Tain , was set to be released on Wednesday, but it too has been delayed, with no official explanation from the film's team. The controversy surrounding the film deepened after the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), led by Raj Thackeray, opposed its release. The party cited the tense relations between India and Pakistan, arguing that featuring a Pakistani actor in a Bollywood film was inappropriate at such a sensitive time. This sentiment has been echoed by many social media users, who have voiced strong objections to the collaboration between Indian and Pakistani artists in the aftermath of the terror attack. As a result, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry has now confirmed that Abir Gulaal will not be released in India. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) also reiterated its stand against working with Pakistani artists, reinforcing the call for a ban on such collaborations. Directed by Aarti S Bagdi, Abir Gulaal was initially scheduled for release on May 9. The film also stars Lisa Haydon, Riddhi Dogra, Farida Jalal, Soni Razdan, Parmeet Sethi, and Rahul Vohra in key roles.
