Watkins fuels YSU women to beat conference rival
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Youngstown State Women's basketball downs Horizon League Conference rival Oakland, 73-56, at the Beeghly Center Sunday afternoon.
Penguin's Jewel Watkins scored a game-high 22 points in the victory. Kennedy Catholic graduate Malia Magestro scored 19, and Haley Thierry recorded 10 in the win.
YSU made 10 out of 18 three-point shots and posted 37 rebounds in the win. The Penguins recorded a 55.6% three-point percentage and 47.2% field goal percentage.
The 'Guins advance to an overall record of (9-12) and (4-7) in conference play. YSU currently sits at sixth place in the Horizon League Conference standings.
YSU gets back to action next against Purdue Fort-Wayne on Jan. 29.
