Zootopia 2 trailer: Nick and Judy reunite for a new case, Disney unveils fresh faces
Walt Disney Studios has unveiled the first trailer for 'Zootopia 2', bringing back the beloved investigative duo alongside a fresh squad. But what truly stood out is the newest addition to the quirky crew - Gary De'Snake, a comedic pit viper who's already stealing the follow-up to the 2016 Academy Award-winning feature 'Zootopia', the trailer for 'Zootopia 2' reunites the beloved rookie officer Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) and the charmingly sly fox Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman). This time, they team up with a new character - Gary De'Snake, a pit viper voiced by Oscar-winner Ke Huy to the trailer, the iconic duo returns to familiar territory as they take on a mysterious new case that could change Zootopia as they know it. But the investigation proves to be a bumpy ride, testing the limits of their partnership along the way. On Tuesday, May 20, Disney unveiled the first teaser trailer for Zootopia 2 — nearly a decade after the Oscar-winning original film hit theaters in 2016. According to a synopsis, this time Officer Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) "find themselves on the twisting trail of a great mystery when Gary De'Snake (Ke Huy Quan) arrives in Zootopia and turns the animal metropolis upside down." "To crack the case, they must go undercover to unexpected new parts of town, where their growing partnership is tested like never before." Fortune Feimster and Quinta Brunson will also be joining the cast of voice actors, with Shakira reprising her role as Gazelle from the 2016 original. The music superstar announced she'll be taking her talents back to Zootopia in a D23Brasil announcement in November. "She's got a new look, a new song and of course, new dance moves," Shakira, 48, said at the time. "Just wait until you see what she and her tiger dancers have been working on. I know you're going to love it." Director Jared Bush, who also wrote the script, said in a statement, 'We are beyond excited to welcome everyone back to the outrageous, expansive animal metropolis of Zootopia, and take audiences on a hilarious, wild ride into parts of the city we've never visited before. Whether it's the marshes of semi-aquatic mammals, the vast desert dunes or even greater mysteries beyond, our heroes Judy and Nick will meet a lot of new friends, and discover even more about the world, themselves and a brand-new snake in town."
