Black Warrant Season 2 OTT Release Update: When and where to expect return of Zahan Kapoor and Rahul Bhat's show
Black Warrant Season 2 OTT Release Update: If you thought the first chapter was intense, get ready, the prison gates are opening again. Netflix's gritty jailhouse drama Black Warrant is coming back for Season 2, and yes, Zahan Kapoor and Rahul Bhat are returning to take us deeper into the terrifying, true-to-life world behind Tihar Jail's walls. The series was officially renewed on 28th May, 2025. What went down in Black Warrant Season 1? Adapted from the book Black Warrant: Confessions of a Tihar Jailer by Sunil Gupta and Sunetra Choudhury, Season 1 gave us a raw, dramatised look inside one of India's most notorious prisons. It went deeper into the psyches of both inmates and those who guard them. Zahan Kapoor played Sunil Kumar Gupta, a young officer walking into the chaos of Tihar with hopes of making a difference. Rahul Bhat portrayed a senior jail official whose moral compass was constantly tested. The show didn't flinch from showing brutality, injustice, survival politics, and even brief flickers of hope in the darkest corners of the system. From power dynamics to quiet moments of vulnerability, Season 1 was a rare, bold piece of Indian storytelling. Rather than glamorising crime, it made you sit in your discomfort. So, what's the word on Black Warrant Season 2? Here's the good news: Netflix, along with creators Vikramaditya Motwane, Applause Entertainment, and Confluence Media, have confirmed that Black Warrant will return for Season 2. There's no official date yet, but if we go by the production pace and Netflix's schedule pattern, late 2025 to early 2026 is the most likely window for its return. Season 1 dropped on 10th January this year. Vikramaditya Motwane, the man who gave us Sacred Games and Udaan, is at the helm again. And that's a reason alone to watch. Backing him are Applause Entertainment and Confluence Media, known for championing bold, original Indian content. Sounds exciting? Drop your thoughts @indiatimes.

Either way, our aim is to honour both the creator's vision and the audience's emotional investment,' HT quoted Tanya Bami, Series Head—Netflix India, as saying. "We are thrilled to bring back Mismatched for its fourth and final season, making it one of our longest-running fan favourite shows from India," Tanya added. Fans are often curious when their favourite show will come back soon but it takes long sometimes. Tanya said they are 'committed to bring back' next seasons in nearly "18 to 24 months from the previous one". 'Of course, we want to bring stories back as soon as we can, but we also want to make sure that when we do, it's worth the wait. There is an expectation along with that anticipation, and it is something we take very seriously with our partners in every aspect of designing a returning season. The conflict, the characters, raising the stakes season on season, isn't easy, and we want to give our creators the intentionality to bring their best to the fans! Yet we are committed to bringing back our subsequent seasons in about 18 to 24 months from the previous one,' Tanya mentioned.

Black Warrant's Zahan Kapoor admits his ‘name and baggage' scared him; says it took 12 years to break into Bollywood
Actor Zahan Kapoor was exposed to the Indian film industry since his childhood, thanks to his family name. A member of the Kapoor family, he made his debut with the 2022 Faraaz and later got appreciation for his role in the 2025 thriller TV series, Black Warrant. While talking about nepotism, he admitted the 'name and the baggage' scared him, adding that it took him 12 years to break into Bollywood. Read on! Zahan Kapoor always wanted to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather, Shashi Kapoor. Currently, he is being highly appreciated for his stint in the trending OTT series, Black Warrant. But, in a recent chat with Filmfare, the actor admitted that his 'name and baggage' scared him. While talking to the above-mentioned publication, the Faraaz debutant shared his two cents on nepotism. According to him, the highly debatable word means an undeserving, a non-meritorial advantage that someone gets given because of some personal equation. But irrespective of that, he was always told to never take that idea for granted and that his daddy's not going to pick up the phone and get him a job. He further expressed, 'In fact, the name and the baggage scared me to the point where I said 'If I don't make the most of an opportunity, if a door opens for me and if I don't make the most of it, if I'm not ready, if I'm not prepared, if I don't have the wherewithal to actually stand on my own feet and confidently walk into that room, then I'm the biggest loser, matlab laanat hai mujhpe'.' Hence, his outlook was that why shouldn't take complete advantage. Having said that, he opined that it hasn't been like there have been handouts at all. 'So, I have managed to kind of, like I said, it's taken, you think that it's easy, you have a name. It took me 12 years,' the upcoming star expressed. In an earlier conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Zahan spoke about his relationship with cousins Kareena Kapoor Khan and Ranbir Kapoor. He admitted that while growing up, they were slightly more distant.
