Exclusive - Zalak Desai on Anupamaa completing five years: Not too many shows even make it to a year
Completing five years is a big achievement, says actress Zalak Desai who plays the role of khyati, celebrates her show Anupamaa on completing half a decade. She adds that there are not too many shows that make it that far today.
'It feels wonderful to be a part of such a successful and long-running show because, as you know, in the current scenario on TV, not too many shows even make it to a year. So, completing five years, I think, is a big achievement, and I'm really grateful and happy to be a part of this show,' she says.
The show has seen the good, the bad and the worst in Anupama's life. This has helped people relate to the show, she says, adding, 'I think from all the scenes that I've been doing since the time I joined, one of the biggest takeaways for me has been Anupama's support for other women around her.
I personally also strongly believe in this phrase and this statement, which is so powerful that for women, this definitely should be the case.
It's something that we must be seeing in society, in our homes, and with the people around us.'
Zalak says that the show has taught us a lot, 'I think it's very important because, in the olden days, I saw that women didn't really support or stand up or speak up or fight for other women. In fact, they were often the ones who put other women down. So, I love the fact that Anupama has been supportive of everyone around her—her own family or even the Kothari family, for that matter, when it comes to Khyati and Pratna. Maybe somewhere she might support Meeta also at some point in time.
She has been very supportive of her daughter-in-law Kinjal, her daughters Rahi and Mahi, as well as everyone. So yes, I think that's something I really love about Anupama.'
