18-year-old charged following rash of six car break-ins
On Sunday night, April 20 to the early morning of Monday, April 21, Broadway faced a series of vehicle break-ins and thefts, including the larceny of a motor vehicle.
Zyshonne Maurice McKeithen, who turned 18 on Feb. 5, was arrested Friday, April 25 and faces 13 felonies and eight misdemeanors stemming from the break-ins, according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office. His address is listed in the 2600 block of Applegate Way in Sanford.
According to several arrest warrants, McKeithen allegedly broke into the following vehicles with a 17-year-old male accomplice with the initials of BB: 2008 Nissan Xterra, 2015 GMC Sierra, 2015 Chevy Traverse, 2013 Ford Focus, 2016 Ford Fusion and a 2020 Honda Accord.
McKeithen allegedly stole various items including credit and debit cards, a driver license, Bluetooth speaker, rigid tool bag, skilsaw, impact driver, sawzall drill, air compressor, four-foot ladder, clothing and cash from William Meyer's Nissan Xterra. Total value of the stolen items was $904.
McKeithen also allegedly stole the Xterra.
McKeithen also allegedly stole a Ruger 10-22 rifle, Remington 870 shotgun, AGM black thermal monocular, two credit cards and a brown wallet from Jordan Cox's GMC Sierra. Total value of the stolen items was $4,400.
McKeithen allegedly stole a gym bag with lift straps and a belt from Genaro Nava's Chevy Traverse valued at $120.
McKeithen also allegedly obstructed Detective J.D. Thomas when he attempted to seize McKeithen's cell phone.
He is being held in the Lee County Jail on an $86,000 secured bond.
Juvenile petitions were pending for the juvenile offender, a press release states.
