Saudi Ministry of Culture launches grant to encourage research on Saudi-Chinese cultural relations
RIYADH: Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Culture has announced the launch of the Saudi-Chinese Cultural Relations Research Grant. The new initiative is designed to support academic research that strengthens mutual understanding and encourages scholarly collaboration between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the People's Republic of China. The grant invites researchers to submit proposals that explore the historical, artistic, linguistic and cultural connections between the two countries, especially as political and economic ties between them continue to expand. The initiative reflects the ministry's broader efforts to foster knowledge sharing and intercultural dialogue through academic research. Applicants are encouraged to address themes including history and cultural heritage, performing and visual arts, literature and translation, cultural economy and creative industries, and the role of digital platforms in contemporary cultural exchange. Selected research will be published in peer-reviewed academic journals and will contribute to the enrichment of the field of Saudi-Chinese cultural studies. Eligible applicants must hold a master's or doctoral degree, or demonstrate a record of scholarly publications. Proposals must be original and submitted through the official grant portal. The grant cycle will include proposal evaluation, peer-reviewed feedback, and final publication, with the submission deadline on July 15, 2025. Results will be announced in August 2025, and each grant will cover a one-year research period.

The platform aims to provide scholars with an opportunity to engage in interdisciplinary research centred on India's developmental challenges and contributions. Additionally, it will facilitate an in-depth exploration of Samanta's educational model that has successfully integrated academic excellence with social impact. The official inauguration, held earlier this week, was attended by senior academics including Dr. Milton Santiago, President of Bronx Community College, part of the CUNY system. With over 300,000 students from 122 nationalities, CUNY is one of the largest and most diverse public university systems in the United States. While institutions in the U.S. have occasionally recognised Indian cultural figures posthumously, ASIICCI is unique in being named after a living Indian educator. The initiative is expected to foster long-term academic engagement between Indian and American scholars. U.S Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain affirms RCSI Medical University of Bahrain's role in advancing medical and academic partnerships with U.S. Institutions
The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) – Medical University of Bahrain welcomed yesterday His Excellency Steven C. Bondy, U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, and a delegation including Mr Nathanael Lynn, Chief of the Public Affairs Section, Ms Samar Hasan, Education Specialist, and Dr Fathima Nasmy, Physician, at its campus in Busaiteen. Welcoming the delegation, Professor Sameer Otoom, President of RCSI Medical University of Bahrain, and members of the University's Executive Committee, provided a guided viewing of the University's New Academic Building currently under construction - a significant development set to enhance the student experience. The meeting commenced with an overview by Mr Stephen Harrison-Mirfield, Managing Director, detailing the University's history, relationship with partner hospitals and strategic direction. A key focus of the meeting was the University's robust academic and clinical collaborations with leading US universities and hospitals. Mr Fadi Ghosn, Head of Recognition, Careers & Alumni, provided details on student research and clinical electives through such partnerships with prestigious institutions such as Johns Hopkins University, Yale University, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, the University of Tennessee Health Science Centre, Penn State College of Medicine and George Washington University. As a result of this collaboration, 224 graduates of RCSI Medical University of Bahrain — including 117 American nationals — are now practising in the United States, a testament to the University's rigorous international standards and world-class training it provides. Pakistan calls for data-driven disaster management as extreme weather risks grow
Delegation from Pakistan's top military university in UAE to discuss academic collaboration ISLAMABAD: A delegation of senior Pakistani military and civil officers has arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to enhance bilateral dialogue, academic cooperation and understanding between the two nations, the Pakistan embassy in Abu Dhabi said on Tuesday. The delegation are representatives of the National Defense University, Pakistan's leading military educational institute situated in Islamabad, the embassy said in a statement. It added that the delegation comprises senior military and civil service officers, including those from friendly countries as well. 'The Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi hosted a delegation of National Security and War Course (NSWC) of the National Defense University (NDU), Islamabad, during their foreign study visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE),' the embassy said in its statement. 'The visit aims to enhance bilateral dialogue, academic collaboration, and mutual understanding between Pakistan and the UAE.' Pakistan's Ambassador to the UAE Faisal Niaz Tirmizi welcomed the delegation, stressing the significance of these exchanges in deepening bilateral cooperation. He stated that the visit also reflects our commitment to strengthening the historic Pakistan-UAE partnership, the embassy said. 'During their visit, the delegation will have high-level interactions with UAE government officials, think tanks, and other institutions of UAE,' the statement said. The UAE is Pakistan's third-largest trading partner after China and the United States, and a major source of foreign investment valued at over $10 billion in the last 20 years, according to the UAE foreign ministry. It is also home to more than a million Pakistani expatriates. Policymakers in Pakistan consider the UAE an optimal export destination due to its geographical proximity, which minimizes transportation and freight costs while facilitating commercial transactions. The two nations have stepped up efforts in recent years to strengthen their business and investment ties. In January 2024, Pakistan and the UAE signed multiple agreements worth more than $3 billion for cooperation in railways, economic zones and infrastructure.
