Athens police seek driver who seriously injured pedestrian, killed dog in hit-and-run crash
Athens police are asking for the public's help with a crash investigation where a driver seriously injured a pedestrian. On April 13, at approximately 9 p.m., a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian happened on Essex Court at Cedar Shoals Drive. The driver did not stop after hitting the man. The victim was seriously injured and his dog was killed. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Police describe the suspect vehicle as a dark sedan. Athens-Clarke police investigate disappearance of Athens man
Athens-Clarke police are attempting to locate a missing man who was last seen Saturday at his residence in west Athens. Timothy Lamar, 54, was reported missing on Sunday after he was last seen on Saturday at the home on West Broad Street, according to police Detective Erik Ellison. The person living in the residence reported to police she came home about 4 p.m. and Lamar was gone. 'He had left the residence without his cell phone or his medicine or clothes. Anything they would take if moving out or leaving. There has been no communications from him since then,' Ellison said Tuesday. 'She has no idea where he is or where mi might have gone,' he said. Lamar does not have family in the Athens area as he is originally from the Milledgeville area, the detective said. 2 suspects arrested, charged with murder in shooting death of Athens man last April
The Athens Clarke County Police have arrested two suspects in the shooting death of a man last year. Police say 24-year-old Jutaraz Morton, of Winder, and 25-year-old Timia Cobbs, of Athens, were arrested Wednesday on malice murder, felony murder and two counts of aggravated assault charges in the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Nigel Zachariah Turner. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Morton is also charged three counts of possession of a firearm/knife during the commission of 'certain felonies.' Police say on April 17 of last year at approximately 11 p.m. ACCPD responded to a report of a shooting in the 100 block of Huntington Road. That is when they found Turner dead from a gunshot wound. A second victim who was also shot suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
