EXCLUSIVE James Franco, 47, and girlfriend Izabel Pakzad, 29, skip ‘chaotic' amFAR gala afterparty while scandal-plagued Kevin Spacey parties at 'overcrowded' Cannes bash where guests were forced to queue for HOURS and police called

and gorgeous girlfriend Izabel Pakzad skipped the 'chaotic' amFAR gala afterparty amid the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday evening, which saw celebrity guests forced to queue for hours, MailOnline can exclusively reveal. The American actor, 47, is said to have avoided the 'overcrowded' event at the Domaine di Dilecta in Antibes, which was attended by scandal-plagued actor Kevin Spacey, with manic scenes forcing police to be called. A source told MailOnline: 'It was absolute chaos and mayhem at the amfAR afterparty at the gate. The organisers weren't checking in guests via a guest list, so the crowd waiting to get in built up and was too much for the security to handle'. 'People were literally squashed against one another at the gates for a very long time. Some people didn't get in until 4am and the party went until 7am this morning. The police were called, and they were about three or four cars that were parked outside the venue'. MailOnline have contacted amFAR and James' reps for comment. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the Daily Mail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The American acto is said to have avoided the 'overcrowded' event at the Domaine di Dilecta in Antibes, which was attended by scandal-plagued actor Kevin Spacey (pictured) Leaving the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc gala earlier in the evening James cut a dapper figure in a classic black tuxedo while Izabel, 29, stunned in a busty black lace gown. The brunette actress looked sensational in the look which boasted a daringly plunging sheer corset and flowing skirt. Izabel, who has been dating the Spiderman star since 2017, accessorised with dazzling diamond jewellery and a chic clutch. Spacey, 65, returned to the spotlight to collect a Lifetime Achievement Award at a gala in Cannes following claims the director is not welcome at the film festival. The controversial actor, who was cleared of sexual assault on four men two years ago, took the opportunity to slam 'blacklisting' in Hollywood. Spacey was honoured on Tuesday at a gala hosted by the Better World Fund as he continued his return to the public eye after a lengthy UK trial in 2023 which cleared him of the allegations. Spacey, who is making his first visit to Cannes since 2016 to promote his new film, The Awakening, was 'recognised not only for his decades of artistic brilliance but also his enduring impact on cinema and the arts,' according to a statement. The gala is not an official part of the French film festival but the Carlton Hotel plays host to much of the activities during the prestigious event in Cannes. And now The Telegraph reports that the film festival had not extended an invitation to Spacey and organisers have denied any involvement with the actor. A statement by the event's organisers said he was attending an event with 'no affiliation whatsoever to the festival'. It said: 'The Festival de Cannes had no involvement in, and was not informed of, either the invitation extended to Mr Spacey or the award presented during this private event.' As he took to the stage at the event to accept his award he blasted Hollywood's 'blacklisted culture' in his speech. He thanked President and Founder of The Better World Fund Manuel Collas de La Roche in his speech. He said: 'I want to thank Manuel, founder of the Better World Fund. What a great name. That an organization focused on doing good around the world is called a Better World. But they aren't just doing good in name alone. And tonight demonstrates that they are even willing to take risks in doing better. 'Since being here tonight is very personal to me, I would like to congratulate Manuel for the decision to invite me here tonight to accept this award. I mean, who would have ever thought that honoring someone who has been exonerated in every single courtroom he's ever walked into would be thought of as a brave idea? 'But here we are. I've been thinking about someone else who did what he could to make this a better world, and that was someone you saw earlier on the screen tonight, Kirk Douglas, a great American film star. 'Now, it was a long, long time ago, so we have to try to remember the pushback that he received after he made the brave decision to stand up for a fellow colleague, the two-time Oscar-winning screenwriter Dalton Trumbo, who had been blacklisted. 'From 1947 until 1960, he was blacklisted. Blacklisted, we know what that means, right? 'It means that he could not find work as a writer in Hollywood for 13 years. But even after he was warned that if he tried to hire Trumbo as the credited screenwriter for the film, Sparticus, in 1960, he would be called a commi-lover, and his career and professional status would be canceled. 'We get to fight the bad guys and stand up for justice. But in real life, the choices are not always so clear. There are times when one has to stand up for principle. I have learned a lot from history. It very often repeats itself. The blacklist was a terrible time in our industry, but we must learn from it so that it never happens again. 'Ye Kirk said those words in 2014 when he was 98 years old. 'And of course, people know about Dalton Trumbull and the Hollywood 10, but I suspect very few of you know or have ever heard of the 475 other industry professionals whose lives were damaged or destroyed by false allegations, and they, too, were unable to find work in Hollywood during that very lengthy dark period. 'And today, we find ourselves once again at the intersection of uncertainty and fear in the film business and beyond.' Since 2017, more than 30 men have accused the two-time Oscar-winning actor of sexual assault or inappropriate behaviour, which led to Netflix axing his role on House of Cards. In July 2023, the American Beauty star was found not guilty of assaulting four men after a four-week trial at Southwark Crown Court, in one of the UK's most high-profile #MeToo trials.

What Really Went Down At This Year's Met Gala After Parties

For years, over a million couch-bound TV watchers and self-appointed fashion critics have tuned in to watch the Met Gala: a spectacle where celebrities, athletes, and diplomats congregate, united by their ability to afford a $10,000 table. For many of us, the dream of stepping toe and heel onto the Met's stairs feels like worlds just out of reach. Yet for all the exclusivity, the most relatable thing about celebrities might be their shared love of a good party. While the iconic bathroom selfies have become a hallmark of Met Gala mischief, it's the after-party photos that offer even more insight into their personhood and honestly, just how debaucherous the rich can get. But for me, for one night, rubbing shoulders with those same celebrities didn't require me to spend a penny towards a $10,000 table, but it may have cost me more. This year, whispers about who was hosting which party circulated among editors and writers just a week before the big day. Although there were officially fewer than ten Met Gala after-parties, a few stood out to me: A$AP Rocky's fete at Jeans in lower Manhattan, which, according to him on Seth Meyers, had him and his grandmother out until 8 AM; and GQ's first-ever Met Gala after-party, which caught my particular interest due to my allegiance to athletes, if any party was going to attract them, it was probably a GQ event. There was also a soiree hosted by Doechii and Teyana Taylor, reportedly featuring topless dancers, and Pharrell's UNO party, which, despite the magnetic allure of Pharrell himself, was described by streamer Kai Cenat as a bit too mature—no music, just card games. But, I wasn't invited to those, but I did end up attending three parties myself, which, in hindsight, given the ease of party hopping by a Lyft, was still more than enough partying for me. First stop: Willy Chavarria x Don Julio's official Met Gala after-party, which seemed like the best first stop of the night due to it being at The Mark Hotel, the very hotel celebrities book out for the gala and premiere their looks ahead of the red carpet. Not only did it seem like most Met Gala attendees would end up here right after the gala, as it was directly across the street from the main event, but it was also the hotel they were all staying in. There were fans waiting outside just to catch a glimpse of their favorite artists entering through the hotel, phones out and ready—almost too ready—because when my Lyft dropped me in front of the hotel, the phones that were once propped up waiting to see who'd get out of the car slowly lowered back into their pockets. Meaning: multiple times throughout the night, if you simply walked out of the party into the lobby, you'd see Charli XCX, Jenna Ortega, and Cynthia Erivo floating through the lobby back up to their hotel rooms. Willy Chavarria, Miles Chamley-Watson Madison Voelkel/ Designer and party host Willy Chavarria tells me over Zoom: "We came up with the idea for the party together. I felt like the time was right to do one. We wanted to do it at The Mark [Hotel], which is where everyone was staying, and we just thought—let's make it easy on everyone. They can just come downstairs." The room itself was red-lit, carpeted, and thoughtfully curated. Being a Don Julio event, there were multiple bars—no long lines and no crowds all ordering the same drinks off a fixed menu. "Partnering with Don Julio felt very natural," Chavarria says. "We started very small together, and we've just been doing more and more parties and shows." The vibe: Grown and sexy, set from the moment I walked in to the sound of "Sweetest Taboo" by Sade. The crowd skewed older, with minimal dancing, but the ambiance perfectly aligned with this year's Met Gala theme: Black Dandyism, with a nod to the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s. "Don Julio and I just get each other," he adds. "We've got the Willy vibes, we've got roses everywhere, we've got the 1942 minis in people's pockets—everyone can sip their minis glamorously throughout the night." He grins. "We just wanted to have a very elegant throwdown." And that it was. The atmosphere felt like a fusion between a calm 1970s disco and a 1920s speakeasy. Still, it was my first stop of the night, and I found myself craving something a little raunchier. But Chavarria had already anticipated that too. "It was strategic to make it the first party of the night," he explains. "We wanted to manage the crowd and the invitation list so it didn't get too packed." In search of something a little less 'grown and sexy' and a little more young and scandalous, a Lyft was called from Upper Manhattan to the Financial District for Après Met. Hosted by Paloma Elsesser, Raul Lopez, and Alex Consani, the party unfolded inside WSA , a new-ish, ultra-glassy office-turned-community space for artists, designers, and indie magazines (that sometimes is used as a party venue). At first glance, the space felt quiet, WSA "Apres Met" Jojo Korsh/ almost too polished. But a walk toward the back revealed where the real party was happening. There, artfully arranged food, displays of candy cigarettes, and a towering glass sculpture overflowing with fruit formed the centerpiece of the room. The crowd came and went in waves, mostly made up of industry insiders and friends of friends. Still, the music stood out as the best of the night: an blend of reggaeton, salsa, dancehall, and current rap hits. And while the dance floor never got packed, everyone who stepped onto it danced like they meant it. Though it felt a bit disorienting,, almost like my friends and I were trapped in a maze, something kept us there. Maybe it was the familiar faces, maybe it was the music (easily the best of the night), or maybe it was the fear of what other DJs at other parties might bring. Promises to leave were made again and again, but each one dissolved into another hour, another 'last' stop at the bar. And then, finally—finally—we left. A couple of blocks down, we made our way to the ever-iconic Casa Cipriani for Richie Akiva's 'The Afters.' From the moment we slipped through the chaotic crowd outside, the scene inside felt almost dreamlike. Though it's still unclear who exactly Richie Akiva is or how he managed to pull off a party like this, in the moment, none of that mattered. What was clear was that he knew how to throw a damn good one. Colin Kaepernick Pierrick Rocher/ The entrance alone, leading up to a grand, double-sided staircase, felt like something out of a great party movie (less Project X, more Great Gatsby). The space, decorated to the theme of a starry night, was packed with an effortlessly A-list crowd. Tyla and Tems floated through the room. Jaden Smith lurked behind my friends and I for most of the night. Rappers and athletes mingled like it was just another Friday. Doja Cat casually took to the pole, not for an official performance, but the sea of phone lights that surrounded her made it feel like one anyway. Doja Cat Pierrick Rocher/ Notably absent? Influencers. Not that their presence would've made a difference, but it was impossible not to notice — this felt like a party strictly reserved for celebrities. And honestly, there was barely a flaw in sight. The open bar had no fixed menu. The music was incredible. It wasn't overcrowded or uncomfortably hot. And for once, there was no pushy security clearing paths for gala royalty. It was, simply, a perfect party — and one I probably won't shut up about until Akiva throws the next one.

Halle Berry's Daring 'After-Party' Look Proves She's the Queen of Confidence

Halle Berry's after-party look is the definition of cool. In case you missed it, on May 10, Berry shared a series of daring photos on her Instagram after Met Gala week. She shared the photos with the caption reading, 'My kind of after party 🥂.' In the photos, we see Berry in nothing but a plush white robe and a black top hat, holding onto some Cuvée. As she poses in an array of pics, we see her glowing, smooth skin, confident spirit, and, of course, how she can truly rock anything she wears. Also, if you didn't know, this comes after Berry arrived at the 2025 Met Gala in a sheer, paneled LaQuan Smith gown. And it seems for the after party, she decided to indulge in a more stripped-down approach. In a previous interview with Good Housekeeping, the Oscar-winning actress talked about how she overcame body confidence issues by focusing on her inner self. 'We are all so much more than these beautiful bodies that we walk around in. Just work on the internal you and the things you can control,' she said.'We can't control how we come here and what we look like and what walk of life we're born into. But we can control what we think about things. We can control what we read. We can control what we put out, what we give, what we allow ourselves to take in.'Best of SheKnows 90 Incredible Shows on Netflix You Should Be Watching Right Now Everything Harry & Meghan Have Done Since Leaving the Royal Family These 9 Books Reveal Details About JFK Jr. & Carolyn Bessette That Were Never Known Before

No VIP treatment here! All the A-list stars who have been refused entry or kicked out of glitzy celebrity parties from Ed Sheeran to Paul McCartney and Justin Bieber

Though life as a celebrity is often about the glitz and the glamour, they are no strangers from being turned away from nightclubs and parties just like anyone else. Love Island's Ekin-Su Culculoglu was left red-faced after being thrown out of the official BAFTA afterparty following the 2025 TV awards on Sunday night. The Love Island star was invited to the three-hour awards at the 2700-seater Royal Festival Hall in London, but she was not invited to the exclusive dinner and BAFTA afterparty following the ceremony. After chancing her luck and sneaking into the swanky dinner service, she was 'asked to leave' by the BAFTA security team, with sources claiming Ekin-Su had been trying to find a way out at the time. However, she is far from the first celebrity to make an awkward gaffe when it comes to nabbing an invite to an exclusive event as many other stars have found themselves turned away despite being VIPs. Ed Sheeran, Paul McCartney and Justin Bieber have all fallen victim to some embarrassing invitation gaffes, and here are some of the most memorable moments. Ed Sheeran Ed Sheeran performed in front of huge numbers of fans and celebrities at the 2017 Grammys but was then bizarrely refused entry to his own label's afterparty. Despite leading the stars at the A-list ceremony, Ed had trouble getting into the glitzy bash and admitted it was actually the fourth year in a row he was turned away. Speaking on On Air With Ryan Seacrest, he said: 'Yeah, that's actually happened four years in a row, and that's not just my label's afterparty, that's just afterparties in general. 'Do you know what I don't get – it's like you walk into those parties and there's four musicians there and everyone else there are people from LA who didn't even go to the Grammys and just want a party to go to.' Thankfully, Ed had more luck getting into Benny Blanco and Diplo's party, but decided to go home after it got too crowded. Eddie Redmayne Eddie Redmayne In an awkward gaffe, Eddie Redmayne was reportedly turned away at the door of Rihanna's star-packed party after the 2017 Met Gala. Global megastars including Rita Ora, Diplo, Katie Perry, Kate Hudson, Mary J. Blige and Halle Berry - were in attendance at the exclusive bash. However, it appeared that it was not meant to be for Eddie and his wife Hannah Bagshawe. Speaking about their night ending abruptly, a source told MailOnline at the time: 'The club was incredibly overcrowded so the door staff were having to turn lots of people away on the night.' Earlier in the night, Eddie and Hannah had made a joint appearance together as they stormed the red carpet at the Met Gala. Paul McCartney Paul McCartney was denied access to Tyga's Grammys afterparty in 2016 because he turned up at the wrong event. The Beatles star was denied entrance after mistakenly turning up at The Argyle in Hollywood, thinking it was Mark Ronson's party with Republic Records, which was held at Hyde Sunset Kitchen & Cocktail. A representative for The Argyle told TMZ Paul went on his way when he realised his mistake and said they would have happily let the singer in if he had decided to stay. It was not just Paul who confused the venue either, as he was also joined by Beck, Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins and actor Woody Harrelson. Paul who was accompanied by his wife Nancy, was heard joking at one point; 'How VIP do we gotta get?' After being denied a second time, Paul made light of the situation as he joked: 'We need another hit guys, we need another hit.' Tyga later broke his silence the amusing gaffe during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where he was asked if he thought Paul would respond with a 'diss track'. He insisted he was just performing and had no control over the guest list, but invited Paul to one of his shows to compensate. 'I don't control the door. I had no knowledge SIR PAUL was there. I just performed and left,' Tyga also wrote on Twitter earlier in the day. 'Why would I deny @PaulMcCartney stop it. He's a legend.' Justin Bieber Back in 2013, Justin Bieber was famously turned away from Manchester nightclub Sankeys when he was just 18 years old. Following his gig at the Manchester Arena, the teenager was hoping to unwind with a spot of partying at the house venue. However, when he turned up to the club in the Northern Quarter, management told him he couldn't enter. A statement on the venue's Twitter page read: 'Yes the rumours are true, we turned Justin Bieber away. 'He shuffles on stage and we can't be having that in Sankeys now can we.' Sam Smith Sam Smith had a very unfortunate moment when they were reportedly turned away from a Met Gala afterparty - despite the fact they were staying in the same hotel. The singer, who uses they/them pronouns, was said to have tried unsuccessfully to get into the Macallan party at New York's Mark Hotel after the 2024 Met Gala. Sources said Sam was repeatedly told: 'You're not on the list, you can't come in,' and the star eventually gave up and went to Dua Lipa's party instead. 'They gave them a flat out 'no.' They tried three times,' a source informed Page Six. 'They walked out surprised. But Sam was totally cool and polite.' Sam was joined by boyfriend Christian Cowan for the glitzy evening out, after they walked the red carpet together at the event. Christian and Sam supposedly went to several Met Gala afterparties after being refused entry at the Macallan event, and 'kept the dance floor smoking hot'. Noah Schnapp Noah Schnapp made headlines in June of last year when it was reported that he had been reportedly removed from a nightclub in New York City. According to Page Six, the incident happened after the Stranger Things star, 20, 'got out of hand' in the early hours of the morning. Witnesses on the scene said the teenager was disturbing partygoers, who paid for bottle service, asking them 'to take tequila shots with him and his entourage'. Noah reportedly became 'angry' when the patrons 'refused to participate with him because he is underage'. Security escorted the Netflix star out of The Palace around 1:30am after he allegedly became 'aggressively wasted'. The outlet's source noted that after Noah was led out of the establishment, he 'retreated to the curb' and was 'clearly unable to stand'. The actor eventually left the location around 2am, according to eyewitnesses. Millie Mackintosh Millie Mackintosh was left red-faced when she and her husband Hugo Taylor was turned away from a London Fashion Week party back in 2017. The former Made In Chelsea stars arrived at Annabel's private members' club in the hope of partying alongside A-listers Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid and Jourdan Dunn. However, it was confirmed to MailOnline at the time that the pair were turned away at the door of the LOVE Magazine and Burberry event because they did not have an invite to the exclusive soirée. A spokesperson for LOVE magazine told MailOnline: 'Millie was not a guest at this event. She tried to get in and was turned away.' A source added: 'Millie and Hugo weren't invited. They were pictured outside Annabel's when they arrived to a flurry of flashbulbs, but they weren't let in.' The star-studded event was a strictly A-list bash, with the likes of Winnie Harlow and Lily Donaldson also in attendance to toast the close of London Fashion Week.
