Iraq announces ten proposals to support Palestine, prevent displacement of people of Gaza

Cairo - Saba: Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Mahmoud al-Mashhadani announced on Saturday ten proposals to support Palestine and prevent the displacement of the people of Gaza. The media office of the Speaker of the Parliament stated in a statement that "al-Mashhadani confirmed that Iraq in general and the Parliament in particular stand with the brothers in Palestine and Gaza before and during October 7," noting that "Iraq is still with them and they are in the heart." The statement added "al-Mashhadani proposed during his speech at the consultative meeting of the heads of Arab councils and parliaments in Cairo a number of mechanisms to support the Palestinian cause, including the enactment of laws by Arab parliaments that reject the displacement of the people of Gaza, in addition to other laws that provide urgent support to the brothers." The following are the proposed points: First - Issuing unified legislative laws that completely reject the transfer of all or part of the people of Gaza from Gaza or from Palestine to Jordan, Egypt or any other country. Second: Issuing laws that impose legislative and legal criminalization on countries and companies, including technology and artificial intelligence companies, that contribute to targeting the people of Gaza and Palestine, based on what has recently been proven that the Zionist entity has relied on the expertise of countries and the expertise of artificial intelligence companies to provide banks with targets in the war on Gaza. Third: Enhancing the issuance of legislation by the parliaments of Arab countries that facilitate the provision of urgent material and moral aid to Gaza as we are on the verge of Ramadan, and arranging the entry of aid to the Gaza Strip in cooperation with neighboring countries and facilitating the exit of the wounded for treatment with Arab-Islamic cooperation. Fourth: Establishing an Arab-Islamic investment fund to support the reconstruction of Gaza and the West Bank and investing in them and strengthening sovereignty over the unified, single al-Quds, whether anyone likes it or not. Fifth: Providing urgent and deferred grants to Gaza and the West Bank in general by submitting legislation and laws to their governments obligating them to collect these grants. Sixth: Parliamentary work to enhance the work of UNRWA and resort to the United Nations to refuse to stop its work as the Zionist entity proposes. Seventh - Work to strengthen the local economy of Gaza and the West Bank through direct and indirect economic support that eliminates poverty from our people's areas and guarantees them a decent living. Eighth - Exempting goods manufactured in Palestine and crops from taxes and customs completely in support of their production, agriculture and even their marine fishing. Ninth - Submitting unified legislation from Arab parliaments to criminalize total or partial normalization diplomatically, socially, politically, security-wise, economically and culturally with the Zionist entity except by establishing a Palestinian state with al-Quds as its capital. Tenth - Urging the parliaments of Islamic countries to do the same to take a unified position to support the Palestinians in their lands. Whatsapp Telegram Email Print

Sunni meeting focuses on General Amnesty Law, security

Shafaq News/ Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mahmoud al-Mashhadani hosted a high-level meeting of Sunni political leaders at his residence, a source from the Sunni political alliance reported on Saturday. The source told Shafaq News that the meeting focused on ensuring the proper application of the General Amnesty Law, particularly regarding the release of individuals who were forcibly disappeared or detained on questionable charges. 'Participants agreed to establish a structured plan to monitor the Law's implementation,' the source clarified. 'This includes summoning officials from the Ministries of Interior and Justice to review cases, assess legal proceedings, and conduct regular prison visits.' According to the source, a specialized parliamentary committee will oversee the process and compile official reports. He stressed that passing the General Amnesty Law was a collective effort by all Sunni parliamentary factions and should not be credited to any single party. 'This is a matter concerning the entire Sunni community, demonstrating its unity and cohesion.' Earlier today, a statement from al-Mashhadani's office highlighted additional topics discussed, including security challenges and governance improvements. The leaders emphasized the need for 'comprehensive solutions' to these humanitarian concerns. They also discussed improving state institutions and strengthening provincial councils to support development and stability. Participants stressed a 'unified Sunni stance' on regional matters while maintaining Iraq's security, sovereignty, and balanced diplomatic ties. The leaders pledged to advocate for displaced and marginalized communities, calling it 'essential for stability in conflict-affected areas.'
