Ange fumes at reporter as ex-Celtic boss insists 'I'm not a clown'
Postecoglou spoke to the media a short while ago to preview Spurs' Europa League final against Manchester United in Bilbao. The all-England game will take place at the San Mames in the city on Wednesday night. "I'm not a clown and I never will be" Ange Postecoglou reacts to being asked how the outcome of the Europa League final will dictate the narrative around him. — Sky Sports News (@SkySportsNews) May 20, 2025 Postecoglou was answering a question from an Evening Standard reporter, Dan Hutchison, who wrote the article about his status 'teetering between hero and clown'. Read more: "That depends on your outlook, Dan," Postecoglou said in response to a question from the journalist. "But I'll tell you one thing, tomorrow, I'm not a clown, and I never will be, mate. "You've really disappointed me that you've used such terminology about a person who, for 26 years, without any favours from anyone, has worked his way to a position where he's leading a club out in a final of a European major competition, for you to suggest that somehow, us not being successful means that I'm a clown, I'm not really sure how to answer that question." It's been widely reported that Postecoglou could face the sack as Spurs boss after two years in charge should Ruben Amorim's side prevail as winners in Spain this midweek.

‘Won't be allowed a trophy' – Ex-Celtic boss Postecoglou abruptly snaps at reporter as Spurs reach Europa League final
He banished some demons from his time at Celtic with this latest win ANGE POSTECOGLOU promised Spurs fans he would deliver them a trophy after arriving from Celtic. He is now on the cusp of doing just that - but it hasn't stopped him losing patience in his press conferences. 3 Ange Postecoglou lost his cool with reporters after Spurs beat Bodo/Glimt Credit: Getty 3 The Tottenham squad celebrate reaching the Europa League final Credit: Getty 3 Postecoglou applauds the travelling Spurs fans after the win Credit: Reuters The Tottenham boss has guided the Lilywhites to the Europa League final, in which they will play Premier League rivals Manchester United. And despite their European run, their poor form in the Prem has put Postecoglou in a position where he could lose his job. Spurs are currently 16th in the league and could finish 17th (one spot above relegation) if West Ham earn more points over the course of the final three games. Spurs beat Bodo/Glimt 2-0 in Norway last night - the same outit his Celtic side lost to in 2022 - to earn a 5-1 win on aggregate and book their place in the final. The all-England affair is now being billed as something of a winners-takes-all for the two coaches involved - whoever lifts the trophy will keep their job. Postecoglou was quizzed by the media after his team clinched their final berth and took several questions on how this tie could factor into both his and Ruben Amorim's future in their respective dugouts. He even quipped that neither of them would be allowed to hold the trophy because they are "not worthy" of it due to their subpar domestic form. And he certainly didn't take kindly to questions comparing their seasons. Postecoglou said: "It's going to upset a lot of people isn't it? "The debate's now raging. The latest one is that neither of us will be able to get a trophy if we win, they're just going to take a team photo because we're not worthy. 'Spurs does crazy things to people' - Postecoglou takes swipe at Wenger as Arsenal legend proposes shock rule change "I mean, who cares if we're struggling in the league? It's a separate thing. It's got nothing to do with league form. "I couldn't care less who's struggling and who's not. I think both us and Manchester United have earned the right to be there." But things ramped up a notch when it was pointed out that over at Old Trafford, there is a belief that winning the Europa League wouldn't make up for an otherwise dreadful season. Postecoglou was furious and interrupted the reporter before he could finish his question, and said: "I don't care. Why would I care what Man United think? "Why is that relevant to me? Ask the Manchester United manager why he says that. I've said all along that this is important." Postecoglou then explained that Spurs and United cannot be compared, given the disparity in the two clubs' trophy cabinet, He said that United, over the last 20 years, have regularly won trophies (even if of late they have dried up) while Spurs have little to boast about save for a League Cup win in the 2007-08 season and a Champions League finals appearance in 2019. Postecoglou blasted: "What's happening now is people are fearing that it actually might happen, and let's see how we can tear it down somehow and diminish it somehow by saying it's been a poor season and we don't deserve this or we don't deserve that, or somehow comparing us to Man United. "Maybe if we had Man United's success then maybe I'd have a different view. So, of course it's massive. "You have to frame it against what this club has been through over the last 15 or 20 years and what the supporters have been through. "We've given them some real hope and something to dream about that we can do something special this year." Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page

Barcelona cruises past Wolfsburg into Women's Champions League semifinals
BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — Barcelona remained on course for a third straight Women's Champions League title after routing Wolfsburg 6-1 in the second leg of their quarterfinal encounter Thursday. Forward Salma Paralluelo and Clàudia Pina each scored twice as Barcelona reached the semifinal on a massive 10-2 aggregate score. The Catalan powerhouse has scored a total of 35 goals in eight games in the competition this season. Barcelona won 4-1 in the first leg last week in the first meeting of the two teams since the Spanish side beat Wolfsburg 3-2 in the 2023 Champions League final. It was nowhere near that margin again at the Estadi Johan Cruyff. Paralluelo completed a fast move with a clinical left-footed low finish from the left corner of the area 10 minutes in. Only 10 minutes later, Esmee Brugts cut back for her from the left to add the second from inside the box before dancing with her smiling teammates in celebration. Brugts made it 3-0 with a powerful drive from some 20 meters (yards) to beat goalkeeper Anneke Borbe. Pina controlled the ball with her left foot before unleashing a right-footed strike from the edge of the area to add the fourth in the 62nd, less than four minutes after coming on as substitute. Only then did Wolfsburg respond, when substitute Lineth Beerensteyn scored with her first touch of the ball. But Pina curled in a free kick for her second and seventh of the campaign in the 77th and María León netted the sixth from a long-distance free kick in stoppage time. Barcelona will next face either Chelsea or Manchester City — those two meet in an all-England second leg of their quarterfinal tie later Thursday. Record eight-time winner Lyon outclassed Bayern Munich 4-1 on Wednesday to set up the other semifinal against Arsenal as the London club staged a remarkable comeback to advance with a 3-0 win over Real Madrid. Barcelona and Lyon have met in the final in three of the past six seasons, including last year.
