NioBay Metals starts first product deliveries from Quebec's Crevier project

NioBay Metals has announced the commencement of its first niobium and tantalum oxides product deliveries from the SGS pilot plant in Québec City, Canada. The initiative is supported by a grant from the Ministère des Ressources naturelles et des Forêts under the Mining Exploration Support Programme for Critical and Strategic Minerals. The Crevier Project, situated around 50km north of Girardville and 150km from the Niobec mine, is in the Nitassinan, the ancestral territory of the Pekuakamiulnuatsh First Nation. The grant, aimed at demonstrating the concentration process of niobium-tantalum on a pilot scale, has enabled NioBay to validate the robustness of its processing diagram. NioBay Metals announced that the initial shipment to a prospective customer or collaborator will enable the company to confirm that its product meets the necessary standards demanded by its clientele. This initial shipment is part of a series, with more deliveries expected throughout the month to other interested parties. The company is also engaging with research partners including Université Laval, CENET and URSTM to distribute the concentrate for testing alternative methods of producing niobium ammonium oxalate (ANO). For now, the Crevier project's focus remains on producing niobium oxide for battery manufacturers and tantalum oxide for high-tech applications. NioBay president and CEO Jean-Sébastien David said: 'We have just brought the Crevier Project to a new level in its history. These first deliveries to Europe are just the beginning. Consumer trials will allow us to continue the dialogue and work with these potential customers to deliver a product that meets their requirements. We hope our shareholders will be proud of this progress and we thank them in advance for their support.' In addition to the Crevier project, NioBay holds complete ownership of the James Bay niobium project in Ontario and a 72.5% stake in the Crevier niobium and tantalum project in Québec. The company also has an option to acquire an 80% interest in the Foothills titanium-phosphate project near Québec's former St-Urbain mine site.
