Virginia State Police investigate crash on I-95 in Prince George. Two people were hurt

Two people were seriously injured in an early morning crash involving a tractor-trailer and two vehicles stopped along Interstate 95 in Prince George County. It happened shortly after 4 a.m. June 14 on northbound I-95 at the Carson rest area, State Police Sgt. Jessica Shehan said in an email. One car was parked on the right shoulder of the highway and another was stopped beside it in the right lane when a tractor-trailer ran into both vehicles. Shehan said one of the cars hit had been bought at an auto auction in North Carolina. The unidentified drivers were en route back to New York state when the crash occurred. They were taken to Bon Secours Southside Medical Center in Petersburg for treatment of serious but not life-threatening injuries, Shehan said. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not hurt. An investigation is continuing into the crash, Shehan said. Charges are pending.
