Auto hauler ablaze on runaway lane near Peachland, B.C.
An auto hauler burst into flames on a runway lane sending large plumes of black smoke into the air near Peachland.
An auto hauler carrying several vehicles was engulfed in flames on a runaway lane near Peachland, B.C., Wednesday evening.
Video from the scene shows bright flames and a thick, black plume of smoke ejected metres into the air, both of which could be seen from the highway as vehicles passed.
At least three of the cars loaded onto the top row of the auto hauler were aflame, with the trailer looking to be carrying at least seven vehicles in total.
Just before 8 p.m., Drive BC issued a statement advising motorists to be cautious of emergency crews on the Okanagan Connector amid reports of a vehicle fire.
The fire was around 4.5 kilometres east of Brenda Mines Road in the eastbound runaway lane, the traffic advisory said.
