More info A woman was airlifted to hospital after suffering a "suspected broken ankle" on the Little Orme, Llandudno. Two Coastguard rescue teams and a Coastguard rescue helicopter was called to the scene at around 5pm yesterday (Tuesday). The casualty was secured and taken on board the aircraft before being flown to hospital. The incident was concluded by 8.10pm. A Llandudno Coastguard Helicopter "We were called out at about 5pm, together with our colleagues from @bangorcoastguard, to someone with an injured ankle near to the summit of the Little Orme. "We quickly found the casualty who had sustained a suspected broken ankle and was in a lot of pain. We were able to splint the casualty's leg and keep her warm and comfortable. "The location was on a very steep, very uneven slope which could have made a dangerous and lengthy casualty extraction. Therefore we called for some assistance from the Coastguard helicopter, Rescue 936. "The helicopter was able to land nearby and the helicopter paramedic issued some pain relief to the casualty. We then carried the casualty on our stretcher to the helicopter who took her to Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor for further treatment. "If you are ever aware of anyone in danger or distress anywhere around the coast please call 999 and ask for the Coastguard." A Coastguard spokesperson said: "North Wales Police called us to the incident at 5pm and requested a cliff rescue team. We sent two teams from Llandudno and Bangor. A Coastguard rescue helicopter was also sent. The person had suffered an injured ankle and was airlifted to Ysbyty Gwynedd."
