Two residents and dog displaced by 'difficult-to-reach' basement fire on North 21st Street
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) – This morning, firefighters from the Grand Junction Fire Department extinguished a basement fire discovered in a home on the 2100 block of North 21st Street, according to a statement by the GJFD. Officials say firefighters were dispatched to the residence after homeowners reported the fire to 9-1-1. When they arrived, firefighters were met heavy smoke and 'intense' heat emanating from the homeowners' 'difficult-to-reach' basement, requiring GJFD to extinguish the flames through an outside window.
Officials tell us there were no reported injuries from the fire, but GJPD Victim Advocates and American Red Cross were called in to assist the two displaced homeowners and their pet dog. The cause of the fire and its origin are unknown and under investigation.
