Thailand's Opal Suchata Chuangsri named Miss World 2025
Opal Suchata Chuangsri of Thailand was crowned Miss World on Saturday in India, where the international pageant was held this year. Chuangsri topped a field of 108 contestants in the contest held in India's southern Hyderabad city. Hasset Dereje Admassu of Ethiopia was the first runner-up in the competition. Ms Chuangsri received her crown from the 2024 winner Krystyna Pyszková, from the Czech Republic. The 72nd Miss World beauty pageant was hosted by Miss World 2016 Stephanie del Valle and Indian presenter Sachiin Kumbhar. India hosted the beauty competition in 2024 as well. India's Nandini Gupta exited after making it to the final 20. Six Indian women have won the title, including Reita Faria (1966), Aishwarya Rai (1994), Diana Hayden (1997), Yukta Mookhey (1999), Priyanka Chopra (2000) and Manushi Chillar (2017).

The illustrious international pageant came to an emotional conclusion tonight after days of controversy after a British contestant claimed she was "exploited" by host nation India. 3 3 Glamorous Chuangsri topped a competitive field of 108 women at the ultimate beauty showcase this weekend. Chuangsri was handed the glitzy crown from last year's winner Krystyna Pyszková. Hasset Dereje Admassu of Ethiopia came second at the 72nd Miss World beauty pageant. The annual event was marred in controversy this year after Miss England hit back at Miss World bosses after they accused her of lying to escape the pageant. Milla Magee, 24, walked out on the contest in India after she claimed she and the other finalists were being 'exploited'. She told how they were used to entertain wealthy male 'sponsors' at posh dinners in Hyderabad as a 'thank you' for the money they pumped into the show. Milla said she was made to feel 'like a prostitute'. A Miss World spokesperson said Milla's claims were 'completely unfounded and inconsistent with the reality of her time with us'. 3

The main event, which started at 6.30pm IST (5pm UAE time), is taking place at the Hitex Exhibition Centre, a venue packed with thousands of excited attendees. The crowd is seated in color-coded sections based on their passes, adding to the organised buzz of the evening. The grand finale marks the culmination of a month-long celebration of beauty, talent, and purpose, with the world watching eagerly as the next Miss World is set to be crowned.
