A TikTok user recently shared a baffling exchange she had on Hinge in a video, where a potential match bypassed the usual pleasantries with a direct and unexpected question: Are you blind? Since the video was posted, it has received over 315,000 views and 19,000 likes. "You ain't gonna believe this," the creator began her video. "Some guy has just messaged me on Hinge saying, 'Sorry, I hope you don't mind me asking, are you blind?'" A woman appears shocked at something on her phone. Sharing the ensuing conversation with her followers, she prefaced it by saying, "Honestly, for someone who goes on dating apps all but once a week, there's always got to be some sort of story. Bear with. Here it is, girls." The screenshot revealed the exchange. After her clarifying question, the man elaborated on why he thought she was blind. "A few reasons," he wrote. "But the main one is I thought that was a stick in your second-to-last photo." The TikTok user then showed the photo in question—a picture of a bridge. "Let me show you the picture," she said. "It's London Bridge. That is a light, not a white stick." Reflecting on the odd encounter, she said, "I've got a complex. Do I I made myself look like something I'm not? I don't know. Is this is why I'm getting no matches? I can't believe it, honestly. Is this my sign to just delete? I'm lost for words, genuinely." "Also, I know that's not London Bridge for all you geography fanatics," she added. "Come at me and try and cancel me." She admitted her initial reaction was one of anticipation for a punchline that never arrived. "I was waiting for the next part of the joke. I thought it was a knock-knock joke. I was in anticipation, but it never came. Now I've got a a lot." The TikTok community responded with amusement and disbelief. One user commented on the man's reasoning: "The way he said, 'Well, a few reasons'...but are you looking away in every photo on there, maybe that's it?" "I cackled," another wrote about the man's bluntness. "At least he bothered looking at your profile and he's perceptive." The story proved to be a source of laughter for many—and despite the woman's lack of luck with matches, she's got plenty of people online wanting to hear more of her dating stories. "You've just given me the best bedtime story," one person wrote. "I am in tears laughing." "This is my first impression of you," another shared. "And I want to be your best friend."
