Syrian president arrives in Kuwait on official visit
CAIRO: Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa and his accompanying delegation arrived in Kuwait on Sunday. 'Al-Sharaa is set to hold official talks with Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in affirmation of Kuwait's steadfast support for Syria, its people, and its sovereignty,' read a statement on SANA News Agency. Al-Sharaa's visit to Kuwait aims to boost bilateral ties the two countries. Ties between Syria and Kuwait resumed last year, witnessing a notable revival when Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya visited Damascus on Dec. 30. Kuwait also launched the first flights of a humanitarian air bridge to Syria, to alleviate the suffering of Syrians, according to KUNA News Agency. Kuwait, joining other GCC member states, has underscored its unwavering support for Syria's unity and sovereignty. Al-Sharaa had previously visited Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates on his Gulf tour.

Syrian president to make first official visit to Kuwait
CAIRO: Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa will make his first official visit to Kuwait on Sunday accompanied by an official delegation. 'Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa, accompanied by an official delegation, is due to arrive in Kuwait on Sunday,' read a statement on KUNA News Agency. Earlier this month, sources close to Al-Sharaa have reported that the Syrian president was planning a trip to the gulf state towards the end of May. On his gulf tour, Al-Sharaa had visited Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates. On his trip to Kuwait, the Syrian president will meet the Kuwaiti leadership to discuss ways to boost bilateral relations.

Pakistan announces it will send an ambassador to Afghanistan to upgrade diplomatic ties
ISLAMABAD — Pakistan announced Friday that it is upgrading its diplomatic representation in neighboring Afghanistan from chargé d'affaires to ambassador, a move aimed at improving bilateral relations between the two neighbors.
