Binman in his 20s dies in crash involving refuse lorry

A binman in his 20s has died in a crash involving his team's lorry. A white bin lorry and 'a member of the crew' were involved in the crash in Torquay, Devon, according to Devon and Cornwall Police. A 'local man in his 20s' was declared dead at the scene after emergency services were called at 12.43pm on Tuesday. Devon and Cornwall Police said in a statement: 'Emergency services were called at 12.43pm on Tuesday May 27, to a collision on Higher Warberry Road, involving a white bin lorry and a member of the crew. 'A local man in his 20s was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been made aware. The Health and Safety Executive has been informed.' Police are searching for more information, and have asked that those with dashcam footage get in touch. A spokesman for the Health and Safety Executive said: 'HSE is aware of the incident and assisting the police with their enquiries.'

A BINMAN in his twenties has died after a crash involving his own team's lorry, cops have said. Emergency services raced to the scene in Torquay, Devon, shortly before 1pm on Tuesday. A white bin lorry and a member of crew are reported to have been involved in the incident. A man in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been made aware and The Health and Safety Executive informed. Devon and Cornwall Police are appealing for witnesses with any further information into the incident. Anyone with dashcam footage or information which may assist the investigation should contact police online or by calling 101 quoting log 330 of 27 May 2025.
