Potential Heat-Kings Trade Talks Developing Amid Kevin Durant Rumors

Potential Heat-Kings Trade Talks Developing Amid Kevin Durant Rumors originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Miami Heat's front office has zeroed in on a possible blockbuster trade with the Phoenix Suns for their 15-time All-Star Kevin Durant. Advertisement While the Heat have remained among Durant's preferred destinations as the offseason begins, the franchise may be keeping their options open. These new ventures from the Heat won't become a full pivot unless talks with the Suns fall through, but recent reports from Sactown Sports' Allen Stiles revealed that the Heat and Sacramento Kings have recently conducted intriguing discussions. Notably, Stiles shared that the name DeMar DeRozan hasn't come up in these conversations after it was believed that the 6-time All-Star could be a possible target for the Heat. Sacramento Kings star DeMar DeRozan (10).Brett Davis-Imagn Images "No DeMar DeRozan convo has happened with the Miami Heat," Stiles said Friday. Advertisement "I obviously can't tell you where I got this information, but it's someone very close to the situation that would know." After driving the point home that DeRozan has not been involved in any preliminary talks, Stiles dropped a crucial nugget of information that could stir plenty of rumors regarding the Heat's intentions this offseason. "Now, let me say it like this. No DeMar DeRozan conversation has happened with the Heat, yet. But, convos have happened with the Miami Heat." In a stunning turn of events, Stiles' report indicates that the Heat may have a level of interest in members of the Kings outside of their star scorer DeRozan, and a potential candidate could stick out. Advertisement One possible name to monitor might be the Kings' streaky scoring guard Malik Monk, who contributed a career-best 17.2 points and 5.6 assists for Sacramento in 65 appearances this past season. At just 27 years old, Monk has developed into one of the NBA's best first-guy-off-the-bench scorers, placing as the runner-up in Sixth Man of the Year voting in 2023-24. If he were to be added to the Heat prior to the 2025-26 season, he could be a perfect reserve option for their first-time All-Star Tyler Herro. In any case, the Heat acquiring any King outside of DeRozan as a pivot from the Durant pursuit would be a shock considering their perceived interest in the 3-time All-NBA Team selection. Boston Red Sox trade: Who are the prospects acquired for Rafael Devers?

The Red Sox made a blockbuster trade Sunday evening, dealing superstar Rafael Devers to the Giants for pitchers Jordan Hicks and Kyle Harrison as well as prospects James Tibbs III and Jose Bello. Multiple sources confirmed the trade to MassLive. FanSided's Robert Murray was the first to announce the deal. Advertisement Who are the two prospects Boston acquired? Tibbs, a 22-year-old power-hitting outfielder, is the big-name prospect the Red Sox acquired in the deal. The 6-foot, 201-pound left-handed hitter was the 13th overall pick in the 2024 Draft out of Florida State. He was selected one pick after Boston drafted Braden Montgomery 12th overall. (Montgomery did not play a game in the Red Sox system. Boston traded him to the White Sox in the Garrett Crochet trade Dec. 11.) Baseball America had Tibbs ranked the Giants' No. 3 prospect. Tibbs was batting .246 with a .379 on-base percentage, .478 slugging percentage, .857 OPS, 12 homers, 10 doubles, one triple, 32 RBIs, 41 runs, 42 walks and 45 strikeouts in 57 games (256 plate appearances) for High-A Eugene this season. Advertisement He has an impressive 16.3% walk percentage and 17.9% strikeout percentage. His Baseball America scouting report entering 2025 noted, 'More important than the total production, Tibbs also slashed his strikeout rate from 31.7% as a freshman (at Florida State) to 10.5% as a junior. In doing so, he solidified himself as one of the best pure hitters available in the 2024 draft. The Giants believe in Tibbs' bat-to-ball skills, as well as his abilities to pick up spin and quickly separate balls from strikes. Now, he needs to learn when to pick his spots to unleash his best swings.' MLB Pipeline had Tibbs ranked the Giants' No. 4 prospect and wrote, 'Tibbs offered one of the best combinations of swing decisions and hard contact in the Draft. He has a smooth left-handed swing with plenty of bat speed and strength, giving him solid power to all fields. While at Florida State, he closed the holes he once had against breaking pitches, shrunk his strikeout rate from 32 percent as a freshman to 12 percent as a junior and boosted his walk rate from 12 percent to 18 percent.' Neither Baseball America or MLB Pipeline had Bello ranked in the Giants' Top 30. Advertisement The 20-year-old righty from the Dominican Republic has made eight relief appearances in the Arizona Complex League this season. Bello, who's listed at 6-foot-1, 164 pounds, has allowed four earned runs in 18 innings (2.00 ERA). He has 28 strikeouts and three walks. Opponents are batting .156 against him. San Francisco signed him as an international amateur free agent Jan. 15. 2023. Kyle Harrison also is a young arm While not a prospect anymore, Harrison, 23, was Baseball America's No. 26 overall prospect and MLB Pipeline's No. 23 overall prospect entering 2024. He has split time this season between the Giants and Triple-A Sacramento. He has a 3.46 ERA (26 innings, 10 earned runs) in six starts for Sacramento. He has a 4.56 ERA (23 ⅔ innings, 12 earned runs) in eight outings (four starts) for the Giants. Advertisement His four-seam fastball has averaged 95.1 mph in the majors this year and opponents are batting 11-for-63 (.175 batting average) with a .213 expected batting average against it. The Red Sox have optioned Harrison to Triple-A Worcester. More Red Sox coverage Read the original article on MassLive.
