PETALING JAYA : Three people, including a young child, were reported to have died in a boating accident in the waters near Tanjung Harapan, in Klang, Selangor, yesterday. According to an official from the Selangor Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), the victims were aged three to 50. Selangor MMEA director Abdul Muhaimin Salleh said in the 5pm incident, the boat carrying six passengers was believed to have lost control before it capsized. He added that a fishing vessel came to the rescue of the people on board but its crew only managed to save one person, with two more passengers still missing as of this morning. Muhaimin said the search for the two missing passengers is ongoing with fire and rescue personnel conducting diving operations, Bernama reported. He said the missing victims were identified as Gan Hon Tat, 32, and his wife, Careen Man, 29, both from Klang Utama, and that the three-year-old boy who died was their son, Darren. 'The other deceased victims were Cheu Son Hin, 50, and Fong Yong Sen, 29, a friend of the couple,' he said in a statement here today. 'The sole survivor is Alvin Chang, 17.' A video of the capsized boat being towed to the shore has since been widely circulated on social media.

Newly released aerial footage shows the rescue of a trio of boaters after their vessel capsized along the Australian coast. Published Sunday by Storyful, the video from Victoria state police shows the men treading water and clinging precariously to the hull of their overturned boat off the coast near Barwon Heads, southwest of Melbourne. Police say the men, ranging in age from 29 to 41, launched from a nearby boat ramp on the morning of May 9, then encountered trouble on their journey back, roughly 12 hours later. 'After a day of fishing, the men were attempting to return to shore when their boat overturned,' a Victoria Police release reads. 'All three men, only one of which was wearing a life jacket, were thrown into the water.' According to the release, the boat's captain was able to contact a family member, who alerted emergency services. Shortly after, the police Air Wing unit spotted the boat and directed volunteers from Life Saving Victoria to their location. The video clip shows a second boat approaching the overboard crew and pulling them to safety before returning to shore. Victoria Police said the men were taken to hospital for observation, and that an investigation into the incident is ongoing. What we know The Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg boat crew said they received notification of the incident at 7:34 a.m. According to officials, the alert was relayed via a 911 transfer, indicating that St. Petersburg Fire Rescue and Pinellas County Sheriff's Office marine rescue teams were already on route to assist the distressed boater. Within a short timeframe, the crew said they located the individual and safely retrieved him from the water at 7:56 a.m. The boater had capsized from his 15-foot vessel. Reports suggest the man was then transferred to a St. Petersburg Fire Rescue vessel and subsequently transported to the Maximo Boat Ramp. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident. Authorities confirmed the owner of the capsized vessel is currently making arrangements for commercial salvage operations.
