The governor signed six bills into law, a move he claims will help solve the problem. A report by the Federal Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board revealed that a series of incidents at a Geismar plant were preventable. Officials said the Honeywell Performance Materials and Technologies facility failed to maintain its equipment or establish proper safety measures. The report also found a lack of communication among the plant workers. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said COVID-19 vaccines are no longer recommended for healthy children and pregnant women. This contrasts with guidance from health officials, who continue to urge everyone six months and older to get the vaccine each year.
