Suspect run over by car while trying to steal cellphone from driver in Adelanto, officials say
A person was run over by a car and seriously injured while trying to steal a cellphone from the vehicle in Adelanto on Monday afternoon, officials said.
The incident unfolded about 5:35 p.m. at Palmdale and Aster roads, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department logs.
"The suspect reached into a vehicle and attempted to take the victim's phone," according to agency spokeswoman Gloria Orejel. "While the victim was fleeing the scene, the suspect was run over."
Paramedics rushed the injured suspect to a hospital via helicopter for treatment, San Bernardino County Fire Department logs show. The suspect's condition was not clear, nor was a description.
No further details were available as the investigation remained in its early stages Monday night.
