Malaysian musicians' group to hold July 5 charity concert for ailing veteran performers
KUALA LUMPUR, June 10 — The Musicians for Musicians Malaysia (MFM) is set to host a charity concert titled Giving Through Music on July 5 at Dewan Tunku, Kelab Golf Negara Subang (KGNS). Announcing the event today, MFM President Francis Danker said the concert aims to raise funds for musicians facing health and age-related challenges. 'Music unites us in ways that words alone cannot,' Danker said in a statement. He added that all proceeds will go towards helping musicians in need of medical aid and recovery support, including Gerry Felix and Zainal Rampa. The event will feature a lineup of local performers spanning jazz, pop, and contemporary music, supported by sponsors including KGNS, Audio 16, Memories Entertainment and Mandolin Comida Sdn Bhd. The concert marks the third MFM Benefit Concert held by the association.

Choir's concert success raises hundreds for good causes
A community choir has raised almost £1,000 for good causes through a charity concert. The Bay Wailers, based in Freshwater, raised £975 during their tenth anniversary event, held on May 17 at Christ Church in Totland. The concert also marked the 150th anniversary of the church and featured a special performance by the West Wight Dementia Friendly Choir. The funds raised will be shared between the West Wight Dementia Friendly Choir, Freshwater Independent Lifeboat, and the Freshwater Skatepark Project. Paul Blackley, project lead for the Freshwater Skatepark and Pump Track, said: "We're so grateful to the Bay Wailers and everyone who contributed. "This donation takes us even closer to reaching our target and starting the build." Freshwater Parish Council also praised the choir's efforts. A spokesperson said: "We have heard wonderful feedback and would like to publicly acknowledge the community spirit, generosity, and musical talent that made the evening such a success." The Bay Wailers will next perform at All Saints Church in Calbourne during The Sale on the Green on June 21 at 4pm. The choir rehearses on Tuesdays from 7pm to 9pm at Freshwater Parish Hall and welcomes new members.

Zoe's Place concert 'a thank you to Liverpool'
A special concert to thank those who helped raise £7.4m to save a baby hospice from closure has been future of Zoe's Place in Liverpool was under threat last October when it was revealed the hospice would need to raise £5m within 30 days to fund a new premises.A high-profile campaign secured the money needed within weeks and Labour MP Ian Byrne, who spearheaded the fundraising drive, said the special event was "a thank you to the city".Merseyside musicians including Jamie Webster, Ian McCulloch, Rebecca Ferguson, The Zutons, Lightning Seeds, The Real Thing, and the Sense of Sound Singers will come together for "A Celebration of Zoe's Place" at the M&S Bank Arena in July. Mr Byrne said the show would be an "absolutely unmissable, unforgettable night" which would also see the unveiling of a new name and branding for the hospice."It was an unbelievably special achievement what Liverpool did for Zoe's Place," he said."The way people in the city pulled together mean's the hospice can continue to bring solace, assistance and help to this city for generations to come."It is going to be a night to be extremely proud of Liverpool the city," he said the event would be "a celebration of community, compassion, and resilience - the very spirit Liverpool is built on".It will take place on 17 July and will be hosted by comedian Adam Rowe and former Radio City presenter Leanne Campbell, and will feature the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra as the evening's live hospice has cared for babies and children with complex needs and illnesses in the city since 1995.
