3 children, multiple adults injured after truck crashes into Palos Park church
PALOS PARK, Ill. — Several people, including three children, were injured after a pick-up truck crashed into a church in Palos Park on Friday afternoon.
Police say just after 4:30 p.m., the driver of the truck suffered a medical emergency and veered off 123rd Street, crossed 86th Avenue and crashed into Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, which houses a preschool and daycare.
Three children were taken to Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn where they are being treated for their injuries. The driver of the truck and a church staff member were taken to Palos Northwestern.
Two officers with the Palos Park Police Department are also being treated for inhalation of smoke and construction debris while trying to get to the children inside the church.
