Changes coming this weekend to Columbia Co. Spring Fair
COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – Due to the disruptions at the Columbia County Spring Fair last weekend, organizers decided to make some changes.
In a statement they said, 'Fair families, our goal in producing the Columbia County Fair is to provide a fun, family-friendly, safe experience for everyone. With that being said, we are implementing some changes to ensure we remain committed to achieving that goal. Due to the number of unattended youths last Saturday that seemed intent on disrupting the fair, we feel these changes are necessary to continue to provide a family friendly atmosphere and safe environment for all. On Friday and Saturday at 6:00PM, all guests 17 and under must be accompanied by a parent. One parent will be allowed to bring a maximum of 4 children. Purchase of admission and ride tickets will be required at the gate to allow entry to guests ages 11-17. IDs for youths 18 and above will be required to enter the fair.'
Attendees who were there last weekend told NewsChannel 6 that they saw a gun or heard gunshots, but investigators say they have no proof that weapons were shown or fired at the Fair.
The Columbia County Sheriff's office said they plan to provide more officers this weekend to ensure the safety of people who want to attend the Fair.
The Spring Fair runs through Sunday, April 27th. For more information on Spring Fair go to
