Mexico City mayor's aides shot dead in ‘contract killing'
Two aides to the mayor of Mexico City have been murdered in broad daylight in what appears to have been a contract killing in the heart of the capital.
Ximena Guzmán, the personal secretary to Clara Brugada, and José Muñoz, her political adviser, were both killed shortly after Guzmán had pulled up near a metro stop in the Moderna neighbourhood, apparently to give a lift to her colleague.
Security camera footage showed a gunman standing on the street, wearing a white T-shirt and a motorcycle helmet, firing several shots at Guzmán inside the car before turning his weapon on Muñoz as Muñoz tried to escape. Both victims died at the scene. The car drove on for a few metres with Guzmán slumped at the wheel
