'Last night I was on stage, in the middle of 'One Way Ticket,' and I feel something pop in my mouth,' Rimes said in a video posted to Instagram the following day. 'If you've been around, you know I've had a lot of dental surgeries, and I have a bridge in the front and it fell out in the middle of my song last night.'
The 42-year-old singer explained that she 'panicked' and told the crowd to 'hold on' before running offstage to pop the dental piece back in. She returned shortly after and continued the show. 'For the rest of the show, I was literally like this, pushing my teeth in, like every couple lines,' she said.
Rimes also mentioned the challenge of singing 'Can't Fight the Moonlight,' noting the frequent use of 'Fs,' 'THs,' and 'SHs' in the lyrics. 'They completely fell in my mouth,' she recalled.
Despite the setback, Rimes completed the concert. 'There wasn't a f*****g thing I could do about it except either walk off, or just hold my teeth in and sing, so I just ran with it,' she said. 'The show can go on, even in the midst of sheer, utter embarrassment.'
She added, 'I don't usually have firsts in my career. That was a first and hopefully a last.' Rimes confirmed her dental bridge is 'in for now' and joked, 'The front row, get ready for something to fly out. If you catch them, please return them.'
