Ajay Devgn-starrer 'Son of Sardaar 2' to hit big screen on July 25
NEW DELHI: "Son of Sardaar 2", starring Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur, is set to release in theatres on July 25. The film from Vijay Kumar Arora is a sequel to "Son of Sardaar", which released in 2012. Devgn, whose latest work is "Azaad", which came out earlier this year, shared the news on his Instagram handle on Thursday. He uploaded a poster from the film, with the release date written over it. The upcoming film is produced by Devgn alongside Jyoti Deshpande, N R Pachisia and Pravin Talreja. It will also feature Vindu Dara Singh. "Son of Sardaar" was helmed by Ashwni Dhir and starred Devgn, late actor Mukul Dev, Sanjay Dutt and Sonakshi Sinha. It revolved around Jaswinder "Jassi" Singh Randhawa (Devgn), who returns to his village in Punjab after spending years in London to sell ancestral property. But things take an unexpected turn. The film emerged as box office hit and grossed Rs 161.48 crore with its worldwide collection.

The sequel to the 2012 film Son Of Sardaar brings Devgn back in his iconic role and features Mrunal Thakur as the female lead. Backed by Jio Studios, Devgn Films, and T-Series, the film promises a perfect mix of action, comedy, and high-spirited drama. A few days ago, the film's leading lady, Mrunal Thakur, posted a clapboard photo with the name Son of Sardaar 2 on it. The caption read, 'SCENE 49 SHOT 5 TAKE 1 ACTION!" In the upcoming sequel, Sanjay Dutt will return as Don, while a role originally intended for Vijay Raaz—Ravi Kishan's character from the first film—will now be portrayed by Sanjay Mishra. Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, the new installment arrives nearly 12 years after the original. Son of Sardaar 2 will lock horns at the box-office with Siddharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor's film Param Sundari.
