Insurance man set off smoke alarm on flight to Dublin
An insurance broker triggered a smoke alarm on a London Stansted – Dublin flight after aggressively ignoring cabin crew and going to the toilet just before take-off on Sunday, a court has heard. Father of two, William Horn, 29, of Stone Rings Lane, Harrowgate, England, pleaded guilty on Monday to charges under the Air Navigation and Transport Act following his arrest on Sunday at Terminal 1, Dublin Airport. Advertisement Airport-based Garda Sandip Shrestha told Dublin District Court he charged the accused with offensive behaviour on the Ryanair flight and setting off the smoke alarm, and the accused replied, 'You are chatting shit'. Judge John Brennan noted that day-tripper Horn, who came to Ireland for a birthday party, was pleading guilty to the charges. Garda Shreshta said on June 1st, he received a call from cabin crew about 'a disruptive passenger' on the flight. Garda Shreshta learned that Horn was in the toilet, and 'a plume of smoke set off the smoke alarm inside the plane'. The captain also confirmed to the garda that the alarm was also activated in the cockpit. Advertisement Judge Brennan heard that it started just before taking off in Stansted when the aircraft was taxiing to the runway. The seatbelts signs were activated but Horn 'ignored the cabin crew's instructions and went to the toilet, and walked by the cabin crew in an aggressive manner'. Defence solicitor Edward Bradbury told the court his client, who remained silent during the hearing, was pleading guilty and from his perspective, it had been 'somewhat an ordeal and in his own mind a misunderstanding'. The garda agreed with Mr Bradbury that the aircraft was about to take off when Horn decided to go to the toilet. Advertisement The accused had no prior convictions in Ireland. Mr Bradbury said his client has been 'chastened' by this ordeal, was held in custody overnight, and missed his birthday party. The court heard there was no evidence of intoxication, and Horn insisted he was not smoking in the toilet. However, the solicitor acknowledged that, at the very least, the issue had a smattering of recklessness all over it. The solicitor said it happened when the aircraft was taxiing for take-off, which was aggravating circumstances for the flight attendants. Judge Brennan said it happened in a confined environment where people were vulnerable, but on the scale of these offences, it ranked at the lower end. He said that if Horn donated €500 to a Dublin charity which has assisted people affected by homelessness and addiction, he would receive the Probation of Offenders Act and be spared a criminal record. The judge warned that failure to pay would result in recorded convictions and fines totalling €800. Horn was released on €300 bail and excused from attending when the case resumes next week.

Moment EasyJet passenger screams expletive-laden abuse at flight crew before he's SLAPPED by fuming staff
SHOCKING footage shows the moment a vile passenger who threatened EasyJet staff was slapped in the face by an airport worker. Video taken at Manchester Airport captured a man with a cap shouting homophobic slurs and abusing staff members at the entry to the aircraft. 5 5 5 It is understood that he was denied boarding for being "disruptive and aggressive" which triggered the chaotic scenes. The shocking confrontation saw the Easyjet flight from Manchester to Chania, Greece, delayed from taking off. The man, who was not yet identified and wore a grey jacket, shouted abuse at Easyjet employees including homophobic slurs. "You're a ripoff artist, you're a f***** - I'll knock your f***ing hat off", the man threatened as a flight attendant was seen trying to calm him down. The irate man threatened another attendant with a "f***ing scrap" after being denied entry. The attendant calmly asks him: "Can you stay here for a few minutes, sir?" But this appears to rattle the man even more, as he responds: "You f***ing little k***head, I've paid for the flight." The angry passenger then bemoans how he has paid "three, four hundred quid" for the flight only to not be barred. The video then cuts to a further confrontation with airport staff as the man gets more and more aggressive. It is then that an airport worker in a hi-vis vest swings at his face with what appears to be a slap. The man in the cap looked stunned as his bravado faded for a few moments. EasyJet flyer terrified as 'drunk' rowdy Brits turn Ibiza plane into 'mid-air nightclub' as she slams 'scum' trippers He loudly exclaimed how he had been hit and called the staff worker a "k***head and "f*****". Airport staff were then seen ushering the man in the hi-vis away as they held back the angry passenger from retaliating. He was heard saying: "What the f***, what are you going to do to me for getting on the flight, you're going to hit me. "You just f***ing have." The clip then cuts to a moment later, when the furious holidaymaker turns his attention to the other passengers on the bridge who have still not been let on the flight. The enraged man turned his fury on another person, saying: "Who are you f***ing staring at it you f***ing little prick. "Keep staring at me. Who are you staying shush to?" Staff then try to calm down the situation as he continues to have a go at multiple people off camera. He repeatedly lunges towards someone who isn't being shown in the recording in an aggressive manner. It is unclear if he actually swings any punches at them or was trying to knock anything out of their hands. But he continued to hurl abuse and shout derogatory insults during his rant. The incident took place on August 20 last year. Cops were quickly summoned to the scene at the aircraft and the customer was not allowed to travel. The Sun have contacted Manchester Airport and Greater Manchester Police for comment. An easyJet spokeswoman told The Sun: 'This flight on 20 August last year from Manchester to Chania was attended by police before departure due to a passenger behaving disruptively during boarding. Police attended the aircraft and the customer was not allowed to travel. 'easyJet's cabin crew are trained to assess all situations and act quickly to ensure that the safety of the flight is not compromised at any time. We will not tolerate disruptive or aggressive behaviour towards our crew or other passengers. 'The safety and wellbeing of our passengers, crew and ground agents is always easyJet's priority.' 5 5

Drama on easyJet flight to Manchester as woman 'grabs emergency exit' and 'screams about bomb'
An 'erratic' passenger caused an easyJet flight to Manchester Airport to land in Germany after 'grabbing the emergency exit'. A witness told the Manchester Evening News how an 'erratic' woman who was travelling alone caused havoc on board a flight from Dalaman, in Turkey, on Saturday night (May 24). The woman reportedly screamed that there was 'a bomb' on the flight, before grabbing the emergency exit door and reaching for life jackets. EasyJet confirmed that a 'disruptive' passenger had led to flight EZY2148 being diverted to Frankfurt. A passenger sitting close to the emergency exit, who asked not to be named, told the M.E.N.: "Once the plane had took off, she began to run up and down the plane screaming about how it was going down and there was a bomb. "She also tried to get life jackets and oxygen masks out." The passenger claims the woman then disturbed a couple, telling them the plane was 'going down', before reaching for the emergency exit. The passenger added: "She then quickly jumped up and grabbed the emergency exit door handle cover and ripped it off. "She then went for the handle but was stopped by other passengers. "It took three males to wrestle the woman away from the emergency exit. "She was then taken the back of the plane by cabin crew and we were alerted that the plane would be doing an emergency landing." The flight had been due to leave Dalaman at 11pm, but departed at midnight local time. It landed at Frankfurt Airport at around 2.30am, when emergency services were seen boarding the flight. It's understood an investigation has been launched involving authorities in Germany. Passengers were reportedly kept on board the flight for a number of hours, before being allowed to leave for the airport at around 5am. An 'airport curfew' meant the flight could not depart Frankfurt until later today, with the flight arriving in Manchester at 1.40pm, according to easyJet's website. An easyJet spokesperson said: "Flight EZY2148 from Dalaman to Manchester on May 24 diverted to Frankfurt due to a passenger behaving disruptively onboard. Join the Manchester Evening News WhatsApp group HERE "Unfortunately, due to the airport curfew, the flight had to be delayed overnight and has since continued to Manchester today. "Due to limited airport ground handling availability overnight, we are aware that customers were required to remain onboard for longer than usual before they could disembark and we did everything we could to mitigate the impact of the delay. "As there was unfortunately limited hotel availability in the area, some customers stayed in the terminal where we provided refreshment vouchers to help make them as comfortable as possible. "easyJet's cabin crew are trained to assess and evaluate all situations and to act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other passengers is not compromised at any time. "Whilst such incidents are rare we take them very seriously and do not tolerate abusive or threatening behaviour onboard. The safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is easyJet's highest priority."
