25 fans were hospitalised, with one suffering life-threatening injuries after a pitch invasion by the Hamburg supporters following promotion to the Bundesliga on Saturday, May 10. Hamburg, who were in Bundesliga 2 for the last seven years, defeated Ulm 6-1 to secure their promotion to the Bundesliga on Saturday, in front of their home crowd at the Volksparkstadion. As soon as the final whistle was blown, the fans rushed on to the field to celebrate with the players but many were left hospitalised.
