Serve cardholders sincerely, Civil Supplies Minister tells ration dealers in Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar has said the State government has decided to disburse essential commodities through the ration shops to eliminate the scope for irregularities in the public distribution system (PDS).
During a video-conference with the district Collectors and the district supply officers on Friday, Mr. Manohar said ration dealers should be prepared to distribute essential commodities through ration shops from June 1.
'The ration dealers have to work in a manner that brings good reputation to the NDA government. Ration dealers, who once served as heads of families to the cardholders, should now work with sincerity and provide services to the cardholders,' the Minister said.
He emphasised the need for cleanliness at ration shops, distribution of essential goods with accurate weight, and display of price boards, stock boards, and posters.
'Every shopkeeper must regularly inspect the functioning of their assigned ePoS machines and weighing scales. Essential commodities will be delivered at the doorstep of persons with disabilities and those above 65 years,' the Minister said.
The distribution of essential goods should be completed by the 15th of every month, including Sundays. Special care should be taken to ensure that goods were delivered to the persons with disabilities and the elderly between the 1st and 5th of every month, Mr. Manohar said.
The Minister noted that timely updates via WhatsApp groups could help ensure that cardholders did not face any inconvenience. Even in case of any technical issue, the distribution of goods must continue without trouble to the cardholders through alternative methods, he added.
