Huskies are an incredibly expressive breed. Between their animated facial expressions and soulful howls, they always let you know exactly what they're thinking. They're also intelligent and endlessly curious, so if something doesn't make sense, they'll investigate until it does.
For this inquisitive Husky, the pool cover posed quite the conundrum. It looked like water, smelled like water, and even felt like water under her paws. But… why couldn't she swim?

Hold everything! What kind of witchcraft water is this? That's probably what Eleanor the Husky thought as she darted over the covered swimming pool. Though puzzled at first, she certainly didn't let the strange surface dampen her fun.
In fact, her confusion quickly turned to joy as she realized how bouncy and entertaining this 'unwet' water could be. Her parents were wise to choose a dog-safe pool cover that can hold up to 800 pounds, which turned out to be perfect for this kind of spirited summer testing.
While Huskies aren't natural swimmers like Newfoundlands or Retrievers, many enjoy water play, especially in warmer months when their thick double coats make them prone to overheating. As described by the American Kennel Club, early positive exposure and supervision are key, especially since some Huskies can be wary of the water. While Eleanor might not be able to take the plunge yet, she's clearly down for the pre-game warm-up.
Fans loved her dramatic display. Viewer @elainethewhipadore quipped, 'Fluff this weird water! Where's the splashy-splashy?'
@sig_the_siberian joked, 'Omg like a water bed from the 90s lol.' It certainly looks that way!
And someone else chimed in, 'Three minutes until she digs her way in.' Which is why she's under supervision.

Thankfully, as shared in a video from June 2, the pool is now officially open, and Eleanor was the first pup to jump in and celebrate. See her leap into the fun with her Husky siblings:
