65-year-old man struck and killed while crossing the street in Scarborough
Toronto police investigating after an elderly man was struck and killed near Eglinton Avenue East and Torrance Road on Saturday May 31, 2025 (CP24 photo). A 65-year-old man has died after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the street late Saturday night in Scarborough, Toronto police say. The incident happened near Eglinton Avenue East and Torrance Road just before 10 p.m. Officials say the man was reportedly crossing the street from the south side before he was struck in the centre lane of Eglinton Avenue East. Emergency crews later found the man suffering from life-threatening injuries and rushed him to hospital, where he later succumb to his injuries. The driver, who police identify as a 41-year-old man, did remain on scene at the time of the collision, though it's unclear if any charges will be laid. 1 killed in collision involving LAPD patrol vehicle in Sun Valley
LOS ANGELES - An elderly man was killed, and two officers were injured during a two-car collision in Sun Valley. What we know The crash was reported just before 2 p.m. Monday, near the intersection of West Saticoy Street and Cleon Avenue, two blocks east of Vineland Avenue. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the officers were responding Code 3, with lights and sirens, to a domestic violence call nearby. As they were approaching Cleon Ave. a vehicle attempted to make a left turn onto Saticoy St. when it was hit by the officer's patrol car. LAPD detective Meghan Aguilar said the patrol vehicle struck the passenger side of the man's vehicle. The 70-year-old man was trapped inside the car. Emergency crews removed him and rendered medical aid, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Two officers were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Since officers were responding to a call, the department believes the accident could have been captured on their dashcam. That footage has not been released. What we don't know The name of the victim has not been released. The crash is under investigation.
